What the hell are the Mines, anyway?

Hey Redeye I did smell sarcasm on your breath as you spoke of "Lorry" Pilots. Never ever underestimate a freighter most have 8 gun mounts and if they fire at a rate of say 8-10 shots per sec, they can do some damage even to a HF.
Yea a VHF has such a large shield/hull rating it is hard to get through their thick hide not unlike a limey like you, (just kidding). LOL. But with a good load of shield sucking missles at your VHF shields and some friends along to help me out you might be sucking space yourself if you are not careful.
Glad you saw the point (no pun intended) about the mines. I used them the first time through SP and loved the fact they track behind you looking for somone to hit. You have to be carful not to double back though or you could be looking for pieces of your own ship from your own mines hitting you.
If you make the head on run kill engine slide move and drop mines and shoot missles then turn on a dime and fire at the passing ships you can take almost the whole attacking group out in 1 pass. A liitle practice can do a lot I recommend trying it the first time for noobs in Liberty space as the competion is not as tough as other areas until you get the technique down.
One more point. You can afford the best of everything when you make a boat load of money on a trade run rather than 3 or 4 shooting missions or trade runs at a lesser capacity like 70 vs 280. Multiply that out in dollars and see why we are the Trader Boys! LOL
Come on and join us you are missing out on a great aspect of the game. I did the SP missions (2nd time) in a freighter all the way through the final mission. Now I am trying it in a Light fighter, only no mods allowed either just a plain old everyday light fighter with 4 weapon mounts. Right now it looks like the Hawk is the best I can do as you can't buy the Banshee in Rheinland space until after the SP missions.
Just some thoughts from the edge of space!

Nukelt must be pyschic. Right when I ran into a mine I just happened to bash my head on my monitor and yell: "STUPID, STUPID, STUPID!" Later I looked back on that moment and laughed until I discovered that I owed my parents 100 bucks to repair the damage to the computer monitor... Next time I'll try bashing my head on the keyboard.

Man, all this talk of mines reminds me of when i dialed up the refire on mines and popped a full load of lightning mines on some poor guy.. really funny, especially when that poor guy sis ur bro on ur own LAN server
