I guess its possable. Actually I might be easier. Whenever I do that race my problem is overshooting. Sence a fraighter flys like a rock then it that might not be a problem.

What I love is when people say that they beat that race in a humpback on thier first try, I find that hard to belive sence you cant get a humpback untill your are at a higher level then you are in that mission...

I have won the race in a Dromedary. I know of at least one more in this forum who have done it.

hairfarmer, where have you seen people claiming that they have done it in a Humpback?

BTW, when you leave Hovis, he invites you to come back and race him another time. Has anyone actually tried this? If he is still there, you could go back in a Humpback after reaching level 20.

I was carrying some valuable cargo and didnt want to lose that by buying the fighter for sale at the base there.

I think I was the first to suggest trying the SP in a freighter as I had done it in a drom. Yes it is possible to beat Hovis in a freighter but not just any one I suggest a Drone or a Drom. as they are the most manuverable of the freighter class ships.

Somewhere on this forum is a whole discussion of the merits of which freighter is the best. I still stick by my old girl Drom as she flys well has good weapons load out and holds a ton of cargo for making lots of money.

I am currently engaged in making it all the way through SP with a LIGHT fighter. I am using a Bloodhound right now, and am in the Leeds system if that tells you anything!

I plan to limit myself to class 5-6 weapons and no more than 23 to 26 nono's/Shield Batts. Of course it would be much eaiser if you could just get the Banshee "without" cheating or MODS!

After all it is classed a "Light" fighter. LOL

If you stick to decent ships (Patriot, Cavalier, Drake) you'll have to fly only one freelance mission during the whole campaign and you won't have to use any nanos/shield batteries until mission 10 (where you need about 5 nanos to repair the radiation damage).

Did it in a Dromarady at the 23th try...

I won with my dromedary on my first try, went a little wide near the end on one of the rings, but I had faith and the old girl pulled thru. Didn't even lose any paint!

i also win this race using dromedry..
just use the TAB button and then SHIFT+W..
all set to go..
however i only win this race when hovis gave me second try..
the first race i bump to the asteroid..
