Trapped in a docking bay!

No I'm not launching... I was trying to dock and somehow ended up trapped in the dockin bay! Not the first time too! Am I the only one stupid enough to get caught?

I've done it too.. the only way out is to reload your last save

No, you're not the only. We get at least one post a week of this. There are a few available solutions you could pick from when this happens.

Multiplayer or Singleplayer:
- Select the base from your list and dock with it. Of course in this case this isn't an option since the base is hostile with you. In the future do NOT attempt to dock with hostile bases, and NEVER attempt to dock manually.
- Wait. If you're patient a ship might try to dock, or exit, the base via the docking tube you're in.

Multiplayer:
- Commit suicide and respawn
- Convince someone else on the same server who isn't hostile with the base to come and dock with it
- If the base belongs to a faction that ISN'T hostile to you, and is only hostile in this shot because another nearby faction is hostile, then you could try quiting and rejoining. There's a chance you'll rejoin the server right where you are instead of losing some of your progress, and if no other players are in the same system then the NPC ships might reset (possibly resulting in no hostiles nearby allowing you to dock, or resulting in the base going hostile and having to launch ships to fight you, which might set you free).

Singleplayer:
- load your last save game

Hehe...

I did that when someone was docking into a hostile base. Too bad I couldn't get out...

Silly me.

Actually, the base was hostile to me because I tried to blast my way out!

And in multiplayer, reloading won't work because you will just be trapped all the same... I tried that too. That leaves only 2 options, either kill yourself somehow and respawn, or convince somebody to come and rescue you out by having him/her dock at the same bay so you can dash out when the door opens. I eventually got rescued like that.

even if the base is hostile, somebody (be it an NPC or another player) is bound to dock sonner or later.

Same thing happened to me last night, same base (Cryer), too. I panicked for a second, but pressing dock a second time worked.

It was pretty funny, the place was surrounded by enough Corsairs to show the slider on the target list. They were pounding the living daylights out of Cryer trying to shoot me!

yeah that happened to me. I had to wait an hour before my friends killed enough xenos that some more launched from the station freeing me.

Reading is hard!

If the base wasn't hostile in the first place, and you reload, it will most likely not be hostile on reload. So reload and this time don't shoot (you CAN'T shoot your way out). Because the base isn't hostile all you need to do is dock... you may have to cancel and retry a couple times since you need it to send you to the docking bay you're already in, but this method works.
