Trent before SP

I was sitting at home when a thought struck me:

I am now wondering what sort of ship Trent had before Freeport 7, I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on what he used to have?

I reckon that he had either a Cavalier or a Clyesdale, since he was from Bretonnia.

It could have been anything!

He had 1 million worth of Boron so it has to be a freight train of sorts. There's no way you can fit that in a Humpy or Dromey.

On the other hand since Juni and King treat him like he's never been on a real ship before maybe he just rented a ship with a pilot to get around .

Speaking of Trent, does anyone else wonder why everyone calls him "Bretonian," but he has a Liberty accent?!

Juni and King treat trent like a newbie because the /player/ will be at that point in the game. I wouldnt read plot details into that.

Anyway, he has ovcer a ton of boron if I remember my logs, which implys a heavy freighter of some description. However that could have been legal chicanery of some kind, just because he owns the ore dosent mean its on his ship.

His attitude when he meets Jun'ko implys some combat experience - a pure freighter pilot wouldnt head to a poice officer looking for work. I would think he would be flying a brettonian light fighter or a brettonian freighter.

Ummm, thats what I said originally, a Clyesdale (Bretonnian Freighter) of a Cavalier (Bretonnian Light Fighter)

Andrewas: a "pure" freighter pilot would have a fair amount of combat experience judging from experience. And since he's down to 500 credits, he probably need to accept any work he can get.
Plus I did use the smiley for a reason...

Mitlov: Because he IS Bretonian. He's from Leeds, which you'll see from his journal if you care to read it, and from the way the story develops. So the real question is, why does he speak with a Liberty accent, even though he's Bretonian?

And why does everyone (occasional plot characters aside) speak with American accents, only occasionally dropping some jarring vernacular to reinforce their nationality?

Post Wed May 14, 2003 3:03 pm

Because it is a game.

Post Wed May 14, 2003 5:10 pm

Yeah you guys need to chill with the accent analysis.

Post Wed May 14, 2003 5:53 pm

Plus everyone knows that people in a main role with a Brittish accent are evil. Basic Hollywood psychology people .

I'm going to be a little literal now.

Q: "Why does everyone, except the main characters, speak with a liberty accent?"

A: Because it would cost a bloody fortune for DA to hire voice actors from all around the world with different accents to re-do all the THOUSANDS of lines that the liberty-accent voice actors do, on top of the main cast. Not to mention paying for travel fees, studio time, basic wage, etc, etc...

I think that deal was actually not to be on his ship, but it was somewhere else. Reading up on the logs, you can find out it was actually kinda something that was outside, sorta like stock holding or something. He could have had anything, but way out there, I definitely think he had something along the lines of a Falcon or Eagle.
