Input devices other then mouse

Does anybody use other input devices. Freelancer seems to be set up only for mouse input. Is it possible to use a joystick. Would using joystick give u any advantages over mouse.

I believe I saw a while ago a small utility that will let you run a joystick as a virtual mouse. Perhaps with that you will find the sense of calm and tranquility the others in this forum are trying to deny you.

MS/DA did not include joystick support in the released version of the game and it is a topic that created quite a stir here a few months ago (before the release), so much so the moderators specifically banned discussion of it.
