i dont really know the names but i started with the same as everybody else, then bought that one king used in the beginning, then go the "hawk" in the 'chinatown' area, and finnaly the reinland lightfighter with the circlything on the end.

I think the first ship I bought was a Startracker. The I bought a Rhino and sorta realized you could make some scratch with a freighter. Then I hit some missions and didn't like the freighter for combat, so I bought a Defender. Finally I bought a Clydesdale as I became more fully aware that freighters could make much more money, easier in cargo runs then fighters could in combat jobs. Again I faced the problem of missions being mostly combat and switched to a Crusader. I then found the Kasuri system and bought a Drone, but reloaded my last saved game and bought a Drake instead. This was because of the "race" mission, and the light fighter was much easier to maneuver around the slolom course. My last purchase was a Barracuda.

first time through SP did the whole Navy Defender thing then a Drake then I traded up for a Hawk and finally an Anubus.

The second time I decided to do the whole game in freighters only. So first it was a Rhino then I got a Clydsdale, then a Drone and finally after much money, Bribes and other stuff I got a Dromedary. I finished the mission with that ship albiet after many reloads! LOL. it is a harder thing to do when you have to place your shots rather than spray and pray. Good mine placement helps as well!

Also try matching up your weapons as much as possible same speed, distance, and energy usage. You actually can do More damage if these are carefully considered than any BIG GUN theroy would lead you to belive.

For my next shot at SP I think it will be only Light Fighters to see if I can do it!

Just some thoughts from the edge of space!

Well, my first time, I went through with startracker -> dagger -> (late kusari missions) dragon -> anubis

Second time I was alittle smarter about it...

Startracker -> Dagger -> Legionnaire -> Barracuda -> Anubis

=)

Starflier -> Rhino -> Patriot -> Defender -> Cavalier -> Clydesdale -> Crusader

And that is as far as I've gotten. Currently level 10 and sitting in TAU-31 ice fields.
