@argonus--But! If the LSF is a civilian police force and Liberty is supposed to resemble the U.S., as we are lead to believe, then Juni couldn't have joined until she turned 21. Civilian police agencies don't allow recruits to join in a law enforcement capacity any younger than that. I doubt that Juni could have achieved a rank that would be a career high for most officers in under 10 years--I even doubt that she could even do it that quickly, actually. In order to do that Juni would have to be stunningly exceptional... something that the game never even implies! All the bartender in Manhattan says about Juni is that she's a hardnose.

If the LSF is a branch of the Liberty Armed Forces then the chances of Juni being under 30 is even more remote. To be an officer in the military would require Juni to have a college education. She would not have received her officer's commission until the age of 22 unless, again, she was very exceptional which we have no reason to believe. To reach a command level rank in less than 12 years would be unreasonable to even assume. If Juni is less than 35, under those conditions, and she gets her regular upgrades as she is supposed to then she would be in command of her own command class ship at or before she turned 40! That's very unheard of... command level naval captains aren't under 40 when they get their own command--they just aren't.

Considering the kind of operations that Juni runs at her rank imply that she has civilian police responsibilities. Either way, if you look at what we know about Juni and what we know about the police/Armed Forces then the chance of Juni being in her 20's anywhere is really remote. ;-)

It's her skin I'm telling you! What I wouldn't give for her skin! :-(

Actually Tobias could be 30-45 or so. The expectancy is 52, I believe, and 67 within the system. Now now, how many of us actually read the news? Wanna bet hes single?

Actually, considering that this is the 30th century, life expectancy, even on the worst planets, should be at least 90, and closer to 120-130 on the better ones. Assuming, that is, that medical technology progresses at the same rate that it is progressing now. For some reason, no scifi author/screenwriter ever seems to take this into account.

There are only 10 kinds of people in the world:
those who understand binary, and those who don't.

I disagree.. Life expectancy does NOT depend only on the advancement of medical technology. It also depends on many other factors, such as the environment, one's personal habits and lifestyle, one's financial status, etc.

If you live on a frontier planet in the 30th century where medical care is scarce and conditions are harsh, I doubt your life expectancy would be any better than what we consider normal now.

Same if one lives a sedentary lifestyle, does not take care of him/herself (no regular exercise, working 14 hours a day, poor diet and nutrition, etc.), is financially poor and cannot afford advanced medical care, life expectancy wouldn't be very long either even if there is advanced medical technology around.

And let's not forget that new diseases and afflictions are always occurring. In the Middle Ages the bubonic plague wiped out half of Europe's population. In the early 20th Century influenza killed 10 million in one decade. These days it's AIDS and cancer. Who knows what kind of diseases will crop up in the 30th century? Who knows what kind of alien diseases are out there?

Then there is of course the environment... One can't expect to be very healthy if one lives in a polluted environment full of airborne poison and carcinogens. And space is a very harsh environment as well, full of penetrating radiation that is very difficult to shield against.

As versatile as we humans are at adapting to new environments, the truth is our bodies are relatively frail, unfortunately.

I am more than positive. It IS 52 on Leeds, and 67 in system. Don't you guys ever read the news when you're chased out of Liberty?

Let us not forget the factor of getting blown to space dust before your prime...

At the present rate, everyone will be dead in Sirius in about 2 years. I mean, a person does in Sirius at least every 1-10 seconds, of course there are millions upon millions out there.

Tobias was a friend of Trent's family, and when Trent's parents died in a mining accident, Tobias sorta adopted him.

Tobias in not single In Trents journal, near late game, he says that Tobias is kicked out of the army, but "I think he got a girlfriend of some sort out of it"

People live long, at least Cardamine junkies... the news on planet Malta (that was the utcast one, right?) state that the average life expectancy has raised to 133 years.

stop being so theoretical

the game itself says the life expectancy on leeds is 52. beleive it was in one of the news bullettins about how that was an improvement to the conditions there.

think about it, planet is one giant smoke stack, it would be like smoking a cigarrette 24/7, 52 is being generous for life expectancy... and its obvious tobias has been on leeds for some time.

King has to be in his 40's. I used to be in my 40's, and I looked just like him.
