He's referring to the FL's feature that automatically realigns your ship so that "up" will stay "up". You can fly inverted, but somehow, after a battle, for instance, the ship realigns itself. I don't know how to turn it off, since I don't have the game yet, but I remember a similar discussion a while ago.

Use auto levelling after you've gone into Free Flight and dropped out of mouse controlled flight (space bar).

Basically it has the same effect as using Goto (F2) has, i.e. whenever you use goto (F2) your wings level and orientate themselves to all the other objects around you.

Free flight and the auto level button does the samething.
