A minor but irritating annoyance.

I'm LOVING this game. Really great! Prolly 80+ hours in at this point and only in the middle of the campaign (I'm taking my time and exploring EVERYTHING as I go). Anyways, I discovered something that botherse me a bit.

I noticed some time ago that jump holes don't register as found (in the information page that lists your kills, etc.) unless you actually use them. They go onto your map and everything if in sensor range, but they don't include that in the tally on the info. page. I wished they did register, but didn't make a big deal out of it until I discovered something new with the same issue.

Not only do they not register in the information page, but if you have the computer route you the quickest path to, say, a far away system, it won't use them. I'm assuming I'm right in my logic that it only uses jump holes you've already been through since it seems to use some jump holes but not others. This is just frustrating because I can't remember which jump holes I've already been through and which I haven't, and I also don't go through jump holes as I find them. I like to map out a whole system and then only use the holes/gates as necessary.

Anyways, just wanted to vent. If anyone out there is listening, maybe this could change in a patch? I can't see how it would affect anything negatively, and obviously (since they appear on your map) there is a trigger for discovering them on sensors.

Thanks,
Shaun

Dude, if you don't go thru the jump hole then how do you know where (in the system) it comes out? For all u know it could come out in the middle of a sun!

Ya he has a point and they could come out in a enemy zone

But note if it comes out in the middle of a sun, it won't do you much good to go through it

"Yeah hello[! I'd like to report this taxi driver.."
"And his name is?"
"Jam.. the symbol for Boron.. and a weird q surrounded by dots.."
"You sure it was Boron and not manganese?"
"Ofcourse I'm sure, I had the periodic chart with me at the time.." -.-

I didnt think you could use jump hole for seting routes. I know you can use the gates but when i try with the holes it says no best route found.

You have a point, but how about this then - when you find BOTH ends, it registers as a route? I'd have no problem with that as I always find both ends eventually.

As it stands the nav map will only use jump gates for plotting routes, and in fact it will happily plot your course through systems you've never visited, including jump gates you've never seen and tradelanes you've never seen. For an example of this use a character that's never visited any of the sigma systems, but has been to New Tokyo. Fly to Frankfurt and have the nav map plot a course to New Tokyo.

It will do that, but never will it plot the course through jump holes, no matter how many times you've used that jump hole, and no matter how red the alternative jump gate is to you.

theres one exception though

if "juni calls you" for a story mission, the waypoints will be set using jumpholes if there arent any jumpgates in the system.

Ahhhhh. Okay - I didn't realize that. I could have sworn it plotted me via jump holes before (which is why I assumed this), but it very well may have been the Juni exception. Thanks for the clarification.
