Expansion Pack - what Expansion Pack ?

Reading through the forums here everyone seems to be pretty certain there WILL be an expansion pack, but after looking at some original chat dialogue with the devs they clearly state that they have no real intention of expanding on what they clearly feel to be a complete package. How come people are so confident ? wishfull thinking ? or have I missed some vital piece of news (quite probable as I only got Freelancer today, but have been reading the forums for the last month)

it may not be a wise business decision for Microsoft to inverst in an expansion pack..

..and I just wonder, where do I buy one of those?...

What the guy said. Expansion pack or sequel is neither confirmed nor denied. It simply makes sense to assume that something would follow, based on FL sales, which is quite good.

Based on sales and the way the SP campaign ends, the game certainly feels like there should be an expansion.

Yeah, after playing this some over the last few days I would definately say it 'feels' like it should be expanded. Plenty of scope and many people shouting for it, count me in for an expansion too.

I would be very disappointed if there is to be no expansion, as I feel they have left the promise of more. By this I mean in the dialogue when it was discovered that this artifact we have all been carrying around with us was indeed a map of a vast universe and a key to open these alien jump gates (in the last mission it was trents job to turn the damn thing on) we are suddenly thrust back into the sirus sector with a feeling of "is this it then?". I don't know about you guys but it was a big anticlimax for me.
I was thinking along the lines of exploring this new alien environment and maybe saying hello the the coalition. Just the info about this alien race and how big it is you could have many expansion ideas.
So if this is it, it sucks big time. It is such a great game, but far too short.

Yea and the shortness of the game is the problem. Anybody going to get bored with this and give their copy to a friend? I think Microsoft is waiting to see how strong sales STAY before committing to an expansion pack.
