I have to disagree with that. The high-level Javelin series missiles (Lancer and Cannonball) do a high amount of damage, and even hit quite consistently if you know how and particularly when to use them.
I'm not saying they don't do high damage. I'm just saying they aren't accurate or damaging enough to justify their cost . This is simply a matter of opinion and game preference, but I prefer missiles as uber-weapons. Take something like what you'll find in the mechwarrior franchise: some people love SRM's: short range missiles with very high damage but almost no homing ability, but I by far prefer LRM's: less damaging than energy weapons, but their range outdistances everything else and their homing ability is excellent... basically I want missiles like the cruise disruptors but that deal some good damage (not as much damage as an equally classed missile like we have now, but more than a cruise disruptor).
