I've seen freighters crash into most planets at least once, when I saw that during 1196 I was kind of hoping it was a beta bug, but unfortunately that one managed to make it into the retail version. Kind of ruins the immersion to watch a couple of trains just quietly crash into the planet while chatting to each other.

They could have at least dump the cargo first...

Try crashing a freighter with your VHF, it should throw them out of course..

..and I just wonder, where do I buy one of those?...

Freighters ive seen normally crash into moons.. seen bout 4 times.. some reason, not matter how fast or what angle i try, every time i do a headon collision with some other ship.. he doesnt thrown off course, but i do

That's an AI problem. Remember some racing games at least gran tourismo. They never loose control until you hit them very hard.

The enemy sometimes shoot really rapid no matter where you turn. It's like they have zero reflexes.

Yes, freighters often crash into Manhattan - in fact, if you approach the docking ring on autopilot from the right angle (going past Trenton) it will fly your ship right into the planet! Another example of the not-too-bright autopilot

I've never seen frieghters crash into planets, but if you leave the sloaris station around planet shultz in the omega 11 system and plot a way point for one of the jump holes such as dresden, if you hit goto straight away the autopilot will promptly fly you into the planet every time.

Ive seen transports do that like 15 times, happens a lot. Whats fun, is in California system, i took the trade lane to planet mojave. For some reason, the rogues just luv it over there, and so i got to fighting them, and now, the fun part is, i chased them into the planet! I chased them and positioned them just right so they flew straight into Mojave!! Really funny.

Also another funny thing, on MP, i was doing trade runs with another guy and there was a large transport right in front of me, when i was trying to dock with the trade lane. So, since i was impatient and i couldnt get by, i blew it up just as it was entering the trade lane! Now something i had never seen happened: the debris of the transport went through the trade lane and It accelerated off into the distance!! it was the funniest thing ive ever seen

Did that once early on in level 2 with my fighter - highlighted the mission waypoint with the cursor, clicked on the GoTo icon and my craft lazily turned toward the surface of Pittsburgh and disintegrated .........grim outcome

the first time i saw that I burst out laughing. But now I see it alot, stupid AI you think they would learn, that a planet wont explode, they will!

Well did anybody stop to think maybe the life as a lonely space freighter is to much to bear so they decide to end it all in a blaze of glory.

well i've seen it done with fighters crashing in a planet during a fight
but never with freighters
