Acceptable Cheating

Title like that should get some attention.

What I've been mulling over in my head is the Freighters, still. Could one set certain stats or a standard issue mod that could be accepted by the vast majority of servers.

Such as adjusting the cargo amounts to more realistically reflect the differences in size and performance in freighters as compared to fighters. As well as setting the game to allow people to use those larger shields.

Rhino 125 cargo
Mule 175 Cargo
Drone 175 Cargo
Clydesdale 200 Cargo
Dromedary 275 Cargo
Humpback 325 Cargo w/lvl 8+ shields

Humpback really bothers me, it's larger than the Dromedary. Much more sluggish yet carries a smaller cargo? It doesn't make sense, I can't see how it would effect balance too much considering it's already easy to make a substantial profit.

This is the kind of thing you'd really have to clear personally with the server administrator, I don't think many of them would be too thrilled about only giving players who visit TLR and have viewed this particular post this advantage over the others. If an admin is interested in promoting mods, they usually say what is acceptable under the server description.

hm, the higher the cargo hold is, the lower the profit you can gain has to be.

or, what i would prefer, the ships and equipment had to be raised dramatically...

cause with increased cargo units levelling is far easier. then i wouldnt need 4 hours to 38 but only 2...

Yeah, this would probably require changing other things in the game....leveling requirements (if it wasn't then it might be too easy), other ship stats... I feel some of your pain, but the reason that it takes a while to make it to higher levels in the game is that they want to make it a challenge... if you mod it, then you might make it too easy for people to get to the higher levels.

If that's something that you could get cleared through a majority of the servers out there to carry as standard then yeah I guess you could, but then you'd have to get the users that log on to the server to download it as well...then you run into lots of server compatibility issues...
