One nice trick if you're being tailed by an AI pilot while around a planet is to head for the planet, as in right at it. The other pilot will follow you. Then just as you're about to hit the atmosphere, either slam on reverse thrust and watch him go screaming into an inprompu re-entry, or do a quick 90 degree turn and "skim" the atmosphere, the other pilot will more than likly mess this up and clip the atmosphere. This can also work against players, but they tend to be a lot smarter, and will tend to stay well clear.

Another trick when tailed closly in an asteroid/debris field is to fly directly AT a large asteroid. If you hit the surface cleanly, theres a good chance that your ship will be flipped 180 degrees, setting you up facing your chasers. Either burn right past them and make a run for it, or use it to give you a line of attack, the choice is yours. This saved my life a few times in the Badlands.

A really neato move I like to do that doesn't give me an advantage and I don't mind sharing with everyone.. How about my 180 barrel roll maneuver thingy.

Lets say you just past your opponent.. instead of turning around by heading left or right.. Simply pull up or down. Then as you reach the 180 degrees threshold hit turret view, and start firing on your opponent while hitting the afterburn.

When you pull up or down into a full 180 degrees turn.. it will put your ship upsidedown. Assuming you have auto-centering on, going into turret view will cause your ship to right it's self by doing a barrel roll.

It looks cool.. It intimidates the npc's.. And it also allows you to fire in one direction while afterburning in another.

Just don't stay in turret view for to long. NPC's and people will have their way with ships traveling in a straight line for to long.

Dunno though.. It just looks cool mostly.. Specially in an Eagle..

one of my favorite and most successfull tactic, with a saber and good loadout, is joust-style! i lock on to an enemy, then afterburn behind his ass, and shoot the crap out of him in an eyeblink! then finish him if i was sloppy, or move to the next victim!

the last thing ill hear from an enemy is: Aaaarrggg...Cant Breathe...Systems Failling...(static)...(silence)...**** with me and you'll be suckin' space[![![!long live the 707th Silver Dragons [![![![![!

one thing ive found usefull when fighting any ship that runs directly away from you then drops a mine and makes a sharp turn is to resist the temptation to turn after them....if you do you are almost guarenteed a mine in the face. Not fun

Instead keep shooting at the point they would be in if they hadnt turned....hopefully you will see the mine explode...then its reverse thrust tight circle and get back behind him again

May not work on tougher enemies but it works fine for me against the easier mine laying enemies upto about kyusi (or whatever) navy ships

Its bad to be in the middle of a fight in asteroid field with 6 centurions or 5 titans.

I can handle them but run out of shield batteries quick You have to make zigzags even while chasing one of them and shooting at the same time. Do not use jump holes until you are hostile to locals or nothing else to do.

I randomly fire my aftaburner, if you were targeting me, the bead on my ship would be all over the place.
You can shoot down mines and outrun millses, to shoot down ballistics, just target the little red bead around the projectile, sry if u guys alrdy new that.
Use ur afterburners n usem often.
ps: mines exploding just as they exit the enemy ship n blowin up in der face = priceless.

Mines are useless in sp system. They never get close chasing on you and they don't stay right after your tail that long.
