Can''t level up... (Spoilers not intentional)

I 've got WAY too much money. I'm at level 17 and I want 20 so that I can get some good ships, but I'm in with the order and got the Anubis.

I still want to get some different ship, so I went back to an earler save game where I was in Kusari, everybody liked me, and I still had a TON of money (over a million). I've got WAY too much money. Now the game tells me that in order to level up, I need to take on a mission. So I go to a bar and take on a mission. No change. I'm still level 14.

What do I do? If I go back and take on the regular Order missions, I still don't level up. I'm stuck. Is this a glitch?

Have you finished the Single Player game?? If not then i would say finish a SP mission first. If you have finished, well, i cant help i am afraid.

I guess my real question is, when I plan on going up and blowing up that first base for (you know who), am I still supposed to be at level 17? What level do most people attain when the finish the SP game?

in SP when they say you need "Mission" as requirement to level up means you need to do the SP story mission not just freelancing.

the highest you can get while still in SP is lv22, but once you DO finish the SP missions, your level would go up according to how much you have in the bank

I cant recall exactly but something around 17 is about right. I jumped to 28 after the last lvl.

You stay as level 17 until you finish the SP story. Immediately following that mission you'll level up to whatever level your worth is at. I went from 17 to 30-something, because I had like 1.5 million or so (not sure about the numbers there, but the principal is sound).

I was like 18 after story missions lol, I didn't do much during them because I wanted to maintain the feeling that everything is really urgent.
