waypoints?! Help?

Ok when I want to go to another system far away and I click set best path and all the waypoints come out, I am wondering if there is a way so my ship will automatically go to the next one without me having to go to everyway point manually.

Then why would you even need to play? What about the time the lanes get hacked, would you like it to auto dock in the trading lane too?

And why not? I mean, really, you still have to pay attention if the computer autodocks for you because, as you said, you can get attacked. It's a pain in the ass to have to go to the keyboard every five seconds just to get the computer to go what it ALREADY KNOWS you're trying to go.

five seconds??/ where are you going that has 5 second waypoints...

dude, half the fun is the exploration... when in transit, hit trret mode and hit spacebar, and look around at the beautiful vistas... which were one of the ORIGINAl selling points, the most gorgeous backdrops ever!!

Actually, I'm having an occasional problem with the waypoint system. Sometimes, after coming through a jumpgate, all of my waypoints are cleared... so I have to go back and update the waypoints again.

On some other occasions, the wapoints aren't removed, but instead of placing a point to the lower right of a jumpgate (where your ship normally appears after a system jump), it places it inside the gate.

Minor bugs, I know, but a bit annoying.

Never seen the first one happen, but the one about some not clearing after you gate I get everytime I enter Cortez. You're right, that is a pain. Wish there was a quick skip waypoint key.

Hyperbole, anyone? "Exploration" is boring. No buts no about it. The novelty wore off well before the SP missions ended

For you, maybe, Ranposten, but many of us enjoy it.

"Exploration" for me means that I'm checking out each of the squares (on the nav map) to find stuff. This can get kind of hair-raising if I decide to enter a high-level system (like Rheinland or the Border Worlds) when I'm low-level and/or red to that system's factions.

Plus, there's interesting objects floating in space that don't show up on the map, and don't seem to have a purpose except look neat... like the Hispania and that big ring in the middle of nowhere in Rheinland (New Berlin, I think... not sure). When you got the graphics on max, it can be fun just looking at stuff...

...and when that gets dull, just attack the next ship you see to make things interesting.

I suppose, theorhetically, you could select the furthest waypoint in your current system and then hit F2 and let your ship take itself there. But that could take a while. (I mean selecting the final jump gate waypoint, not simply the NEXT waypoint. Doing this would take you right to the jump gate, albeit quite slowly).

I find it interesting that people even WANT the autopilot feature. I mean, we haven't really had that feature in other flight-sim/space-sim games, have we? Wing Commander still required that you take manual control of your ship at some points, same with all flight sims. Manual control is a FEATURE! If the box said "Automatic Flight!! Never worry about controlling your ship again! The game plays the game for you!!" no one would buy it.

Well, I wouldn't, anyway.

Exploration died out after the SP game?? For me it just began. They put a lot of work into each and every system. There is tons to find. But I guess theres some that just dont want to do any work.

Ahem. Notice quotation marks on "exploration". Now, read Flak Cannon's post:
"dude, half the fun is the exploration... when in transit, hit trret mode and hit spacebar, and look around at the beautiful vistas... "

As spectacular the graphics was in FL, looking around in turret view gets old awfully fast. "If you would look to your left, you will see... the same thing we saw the last fifty times we went through this trade lane." Hardly a hair-raising experience.

Wap Caplet - There's a difference between a game that plays itself (play... uh, watch MoO3 to see an example of AI overkill), and a game that takes care of obvious and repetitive tasks. Imagine playing Starcraft if you had to tell your SCVS to mine and return minerals manually. Or playing a FPS that made you manually remove clips from enemy weapons one by one. Things like this are common sense, and making the player do them is not a "feature". You people are basically asking "Is it really that hard to press a few buttons every once in a while"? But the question should be "Would you really -miss- pressing a few buttons every once in a while?"

I sometime think that it would be nice if you could set the game to automatically follow a series of waypoints, but that is usually after I've spent a few hours trading as I save up for my new ship. Then I quit for a while and when I come back, guess what? It's still fun! So maybe you just need to take a break from the game for a day to cool off.
