Steal their guns...teehee

two things really, one is switching from targting list to the ship components page requires me to fly in a straght line to use mouse to click which sux, does anyone know if i can bind a button to this (not in game controls i know but maybe user.ini or somet similar?)
secondly, does targtting different components actually do anything? like if i want to destroy a ship and retrieve its guns, do i target the guns so they fall off or the wings so they a re left intact?
ty
p.s does taking the wings off ships make em less manouverable?

Yes, unfortunately, at least to me, the subsystem er... system in this game is FUBAR. The only use I've found is targetting someone's wing or thrusters before a PvP dogfight to gain a slight tactical advantage, otherwise it's too much of a hassle. They need an extra set of keys to target subysystems/turrets like in Freespace.

You can shoot their guns off, but doing so destroys them. I haven't done it with a fighter yet, but I've taken out guns from bases/battleships, and I'm assuming the same thing happens. With that said, the only way to steal a gun (that I know of) is to destroy their ship. When they're destroyed, pieces of equipment are sometimes left intact, which include guns. But you probably already know that don't you.
