jesus christ.

i hate all you fools who think there should be a black guy in a game just to make sure the game isnt racist. Have you ever played a computer game with a lead black guy? No, i havent maybe there is one or two but for the most part i cant say i have. Star Wars: A New Hope WASNT racist but there was no black guys in, in fact they HAD to get a billie dee williams to play lando BECAUSE there were no black guys in the film. its these assholes on soapboxes that harp on about making everything equal and propper, making sure that all ethnic groups are counted for that theyre missing the point. There are a limited amount of black guys in the film because for the most part, Africa was wiped out and so were her people. Remembering that the human race as we see it in freelancer derived SOLEY from those on board the sleeper ships the crew are gonna be predomenantly white because that is the predomenant race in the countries that sent out sleeper ships.

as for LOTR, it has nothing to do with racism either. Middle earth represents Europe as it is today, there are no black guys or gals in the film because 10,000 years ago or whatever, there WERE no black guys in europe. Get over your racial hangups and accept a few things, this isnt the 90's anymore, people care less and less about making sure every ethnic group is kept appeased and have realised political correctness is just pissing the planet off.

Nice post, Arcon!

How many times have we been over this issue already? I've lost count of the number of threads I saw complaining about Freelancer's lack of racial diversity. Just enjoy the game.

Who says anything about lack of racial diversity? I dont really care, five ships launched into space, each ship containing (I cant remember, its like 10,000 right?) I think they would choose people with superior physical and mental strengths, race wouldn't matter. About LOTR, its not set in Europe its set in a southeastern continent that does not exist, I myself believe the Men of the Wood are supposed to be some of the aboriginals and I think that whatever continent LOTR was supposed to be located on it had something to do with Terra Incognita (modern Australia, a continent thought to exist far south which was theorized before Cook discovered it) Tolkien I believe took this as his location as at the time the place was still quite a mystery. And about no Africans in Europe, your wrong, you forget the North Africans that used to inhabit Europe- The Moors. And about my post about LOTR before, I was just disagreeing about the racial population of Middle Earth (The main humans in LOTR are descends from Numenoreans which were immigrants to Middle Earth). I wish to reiterate that the colonists would be chosen by physical and mental strengths not race.

Sheesh, this seems to have degenerated into another worthless thread, but since I'm a big fan of LOTR, and very un-racist, I need to come to its defense here.

Tolkien himself said that LOTR was meant as an ancient mythology for England, since it had none (Arthur and the knights of the round table is not ancient). Therefore, he made the geographic distribution of people the way it would have been 7-10 thousand years ago. So, people from the south and east would indeed have had darker skin. Tolkien himself was definitely not racist, and he even has a passage where Sam wonders about one of the fallen Easterlings (a "swarthy" man, btw) and wonders if he had a family, friends, and if he was evil, or just pressed into service by an evil ruler.

Sorry about that, but whenever people start attacking LOTR like that it really gets under my skin.

There are only 10 kinds of people in the world:
those who understand binary, and those who don't.

Hi everyone....I'm here to say that everyone should really calm down.... If there aren't enough african americans in the game, sorry, but that's just the way that it worked out...there's not much that can be done about it. I really can't possibly believe that they had it in mind to screw the black man out of some space in the game... come on people...grow up...

Maybe that's something that you can suggest to MS via one of their suggestion links... anyone have one handy? Mods? Bos, EB, Sting, Wiz, Gibby?

Not only is this thread completely out of hand, it's the second time this has come up in the last week. Locking for obvious reasons.
