Gate Queuing

What do you guys do at gates and bases you gotta wait to dock at? im a wanted criminal by EVERYONE except the criminal factions, i know i get stopped at trade lanes alot, and depending on my mood i either hail them for fun, keep flying, or punch them so full of laser holes they never consider shooting a tradelane again. At gates, ill usually wait (i dont join formation with people who are docking) but sometimes when theres people after me (whats up with that? i mean, why would they ever wanna chase me down? i didnt bother them ) ill just shoot everyone in front of the gate, hit the B key and hit dock, if i choose to use a gate every once in a while, i usually just use holes, what about you guys?

Already posted what I do in that situation, who ever is entering the gate I use Formation/F4 on and tag along

Me? Oh, I just lay a sizeable minefield around the gate area and wait for some NPC to come flying out of the tradelanes on cruise-engines and smack into 'em... for some reason that's a sick pleasure for me... never tried it in MP though, as I used to play Subspace a lot and that was one of the "lame" tricks, hehe.

tell me how you keep those mine from disapering after about 30 sec?

You know, after reading that Formation trick, I've been trying it and I can't get it to work. I enter formation, we move toward the gate and at the last moment, my ship automatically turns away and the the computer tells me the Dock is in use and then I have sit there till it is my turn. Is there another step?

That can happen but usually you either tag along or you get the "Formation Lost" but you still follow.

But I've found it's better if you F4 before the end of your Cruise speed when getting to the gate. But Ideally if you see someone is going to use the gate F4 on them asap.

You ever have to sit there forever at a jumpgate and then it just lets you go after awhile of inactivity? Well that's what is happening to you. Other ships that have been waiting in cue to long are being given the chance to go So you are bumped back into cue. But don't worry. That is an uncommon occurrence when it comes to gate formation jumps.

Flying out of he jump is a more common occurrence. All NPC's do it if they are to far from the middle ship. But this does not always push you back in the cue for taking to long. It will usually fly out of the jumpgate, realign, then fly back in..

The reason it flies out like that. Your simply not close enough to the middle target entering the jumpgate. Solution.. Get closer to the middle ship before entering formation.

I've all but mastered this. But it still goes wrong from time to time nStuff. Solution..Start shooting everything in cue.

As far as docking at bases. If everyone is attacking you, simply stay in cruise and fly around the target. Once it is free..align yourself with the object your docking with so that once you hit the dock button it automatically goes to the uncontrolable flyby view.

Somethin like that.. Dunno though.

I find a good way to avoid the line-ups is to simply steal the jump gate. I attach an industrial strength titanium reinforced cable to the jump gate and then activate my power thrust booster engines and tug the gate somewhere less "busy". The only problem is if you get caught hauling the thing around:

Once it's kicked into the flyby view can you still die? I've docked on low shields and a fair few times and watched as my ship gets the crap knocked out of it but nothing has ever happened. As you safe as soon as it switches to flyby?
