Turret weapons

Do turret weapons fire automatically or do you fire them manually?

You fire them manually.

They currently do not have auto-firing capabilities, but some people on the editing forum are looking into adding that. May not be possible though.

I hope they figure something out! I just think autofire would be so awesome to have as an option. Maybe something you could buy at a station? Maybe in the expansion/sequel if there is one.

Auto fire would be handy for turrets, as long as it had a toggle key. I wouldn't want all the turrets on a Humpback or Dromedary wasting all my energy on a little wimpy target if I was engaged with a tough one too...

They fire manually.

The one thing I love about this game, and correct me if I'm wrong, is the way that the turrets do not over heat or run out of ammo. Like many of the other space based games I've played in the past this can cause a lot of annoyance. Like you're just about to kill the enemy in sight, and then you have to wait for a minute or two until your weapons cool down, by which time your enemys shields and repairs are back to normal again and the process starts all over again.

Yeah remember the freespace, the Dragon? That thing was so ****ing annoying.

Why didn't I register the day after?

Yeah rear turrets should have some type of autofire!

I dont use em at all!

I must admit that the idea of letting my ship just plod along while I jump in the turrets to engage the enemy reminds me to much of that old wheeze about the fellow getting cruise control in his van and going in the back for a nap....

.sig not found, who am I?
