Umm, you do realize you can just hit ESC to skip those messages...

The ESC key is my friend. I don't listen to any of the conversations anymore -- I just hit ESC as soon as one starts so I can get to the rumor/mission screen. Although I like to listen to the robots now and again; they can be pretty funny ("Your reputation is damaged. I can discreetly repair it as a service." ).

actually, they are not all the same.....they do get annoying though....but later in the game the convo chances and after you've been to certain people a number of times, it changes again.....I've noticed a big difference along with new dialogue from early-on in the game to the later convo's after SP missions are complete....

Post Mon Mar 31, 2003 4:52 pm

Yeah, it does change, but not enough to keep me from ESCing out of it. It just takes way too long to let them all ramble on.

I always thought if you were going to have dialogue repeated over and over, make it shorter and less specific. That way it's less weird that everyone says the same thing.

Some random discussions are needed here,... i got bored of the you're new here from the demo already!

I don't think it is a good idea to ESC out of the conversations. You never know when one of those bald-headed ladies will invite you up to her ship for some zero gravity sex.

Well V I have a pretty good idea of how many times I've missed that

I'd hoped that cuase I was using the demo version the dialogue in the game wasn't that great, so it's dissapointing to realise this hasn't been improved.

The same way when you hear the chat from other space crafts in space, it would be nice to have more random conversations to listen to - this would also go for the enemys speech too, they seem to have two random things to say and that is about that lot.

But saying this, it's still not going to stop me buying the full version once it comes out over here in the UK!!

From the demo, I've noticed that you can eliminate a lot of time wasting by hovering the pointer over the poeple in the bar. A folder icon indicate a job, a "$" shows the possibility of a bribe while a full "dialogue" box show the person knows a rumour. An empty dialogue box show the person has nothing for you.

Even then you still have to listen to the tedious: "You new here. / Anything for me" routine.

Bozone: (n.) The substance surrounding stupid people that stops bright ideas from penetrating. The bozone layer, unfortunately, shows little sign of breaking down in the near future.

Umm, no you don't. Like was said above you can just hit ESC and skip right to the heart of the interaction.

I noticed after my first mission with the blood dragons when I go to Kyoto the first time and look for jobs. Everybody knows me even though it's my first visit, lol. I guess if a faction is green everybody knows you? Didn't work for the po po's at the beginning of the game though.
