you could try to bind the function to a different jey and bind it back to 'z' to see whether it works.
Cutting engines doesn't seem to work when the ship is automatically piloted [ie. 'Goto' or 'Dock', or 'Formation' functions'. you need to be in full control of your ship. If you do manage to get the 'z' feature to work, your speed will become negative if you face your ship backwards. Also, your speed will decrease gradually when you cut engines.
hope this helps.
As for I-War 2, anyone know where to get it? the guys at EB tell me it's been discontinued of all things. I heard it was a great game, but held off on buying it till later. I was afraid this would happen to FL, so I got it ASAP.
Realistic physics...not that I really care about that....heehee...space is a vacuum, so let's cut the sound too for realistic physics. Anyway, one of the first space sim to try 'Newtonian physics' was Mantis, back in the days of Wing Commander 1, and it was so not fun.
