Information obtained in bars

When I'm in a bar, and an exclamation point appears over one of the patrons, I talk to him, and he offers to sell me information about a planet. What is the point of me paying hundreds of credits to find out this information? Thanks for your assistance.

Regards,

bobk

For 1st time players some of that info may be useful.. But if you already know where everything is or what your plan is. You probably don't need to buy that info.

One problem i've found with that info stuff is they offer you information you already have. So that's annoying nStuff.

Yeah but sometimes it good. I went to West Point in New York and bought the info on Patrol 27. I think every one knows about it by now but i did then and getting all those wepons at a low level was nice.

Another nice thing is sometimes you get info on a location in system you haven't found or explored yet. Later in the game its not worth it, especially after the SP storyline ends.

for buying info on ships and lost wrecks and stuff

SPOILER

like the patrol 27,

END SPOILER

i often save just before buying and then load the game with the info in my head...

kinda cheap, but actually it's very cheap (lame joke, sorry) and it's a waste of say, 2k-3k credits to buy info that then u only make say 3.5k after selling sutff, or maybe if it's useful u keep it... overall i try not to spend money on info, other than if i find a REALLY good deal, such as a 300 credit for info on a station... useful cus i was tradng at the time... and made some easy cash...

also later on it isnt that important, seeing as u have so much money...
