Hey, how about some BOMBERS?

I mean, ships that carry only a few lasers, and then can be loaded out with a LOT of torpedo and missile launchers... Maybe up to 4 torpedo launchers, and up to 6 missile launchers...

They would suck for dog-fighting, but would be DEVASTATING to cap ships and bases.

Basically I want a more epic experience. I love the idea of more capital ships and player controlled capital ships as well as player owned bases. IMHO i dont think DA and MS put enough emphsis on them. There should be more missions involved with them. There should be more classes like frgates, destroyers, carriers etc as well as variety among the factions. The ai should use them more. It would be nice if the ai fighters were accompanined by a mother ship every now and then. I would love to see cruisers and frigates patroling the trade lanes with a battleship thrown in there every now and then. AI factions should attack each other with fleets to make for more epic space battles. Can you say jump gate assualt. I get shivers just thinking about it. Let there be WAR.

It just doesnt feel right the way it is now where you can't destroy something because you can dock there like a battleship or a space station. Just make them respawnable after a certain amount of time. Either that or leave it the way it is but add alot more stuff that we can destroy. It gets kinda boring just killing fighters. I wanna kill the big stuff.

There also needs to be more RPG-like aspects. The ability to join actual factions and rise in rank instead of having relations with them. The ability to hire ai wingmen from your faction. The ability to call for help like a distress signal and after a certain amount of time some ai show up to help you fight. And on the flipside the ai can call four your help.

I cant empasize enough how much i want to see player controlled capital ships enabled even if its the only thing they add. As for the balance issue capital ships should be awful against fighters(need fighter escorts) . A group of torpedo bombers should be able to take one out relatively easily if the escorts are killed. They should only be effective against other capital ships and bases. They can be used as mobile mini bases where player and ai fighters could dock and repair . They should have a limited inventory of supplies that must be replaced at a major base or planet of your faction. In other words they would be limited as to where they could dock and resupply and repair maybe only 1 place in the entire galaxy for a criminal faction. This would add such a strategic aspect to the game as well as requiring more player interaction than it does now.

Yeah I know its called freelancer and I like the one man against impossible odds as much as the next guy but sometimes one wants to feel they are a part of something bigger. I dont know whether this is possible or not in a patch or an expansion or a sequel or if its even possible without massive multiplayer but I would pay money each month to play something like this.

Some different "Bitchin' Betty" voices would be cool. (For those who don't know- "Bitchin' Betty" is a military term for the warning voice that alerts you to danger or other happenings. In Freelancer it's the voice that says "Dock" or "Incoming Missile" )

Beautiful idea Xan. I woud love to see a rather large section of the universe that you can only enter/exit through oneway jumpholes and filled with uber enemies. Would definatly need some of the group members to have some way to record the battles as I would love to watch a fleet of player controlled Sabres/Eagles/Titans go at it with a fleet of high powered NPCs.
