Non - Freelancer But Important

Okay i know this aint to do with freelancer but this is the only forum that actually replies to anything and the only one im a member of so...

Is it possible to play music (mp3's) from your Harddrive and output the sound to the headphones of a CD-Drive rather than the normal speakers. I know you could just write a CD and play it that way but this takes time and money and can be frustrating and there are lots of other reasons not to do this.

The reason for this question is at college none of he computers have sound cards any tips or links to applications would be appricieated, i searched high and low for something like this with no luck, it may seem a little wacky but in theory i dont see why not If the CD-Drive can play from a CD why not a HD they are after all linked and writers must be able to accept info from a HD so......

Please dont delte cos its not freelancer topic.

umm if ur compt dont have a sound card u wont be able to play ANY sound at all.... the sound card allows u to render the sound from binary to audio....

if it has a sound card and no speakers the cd drive prolly wouldnt work cus it's for palying audio from CDs.... however if it is just a hassle to reach around back of comp to get to headphone/speaker output, then just get a pair of speakers with a headphone jack on the side... go to any computer store and find the cheapest ones, prolly will be less than 10$

as he said,
not able to play render wavs from audio files without soundcard.

the headphones output from your cd-rom/dvd only works for audio cds, and audio dvds (maybe).

its not linked with the lineout of your soundcard, only with a line-in of your soundcard (the cd-rom audio connecter)

so your friend has to get a sound device first for his pc to play mp3, and a line-out port for this device (normaly called sound-card )

Reading is a fine art, and most ppl have no sense for art.

Why not buy a portable MP3 player?
