Have the developers posted any information about a patch at all? I haven't seen any mention of one myself. No dates, no proposed fixes, nothing. My game has been fairly stable, but I've run afoul of a couple bugs. The most noticeable is the drop to desktop when launching into space from a base (some bases seem effected more frequently than others.)

I'm more interested in game updates than patches, but I'm surprised we haven't seen anything about an initial patch to fix known issues.

Report all bugs at the FL Microsoft site.
It's not sure wether there'll be patches/updates but there a community working a mods already. Time will tell.

Many companies have patches ready the day it's released, while other wait upwards of a month. Frankly, sales should be irrelevent for bug fixes (I feel they're obligated to release them), but add-ons and features, only Paradox and Stardock seem to do that in patches.

So, um...yeah, give 'em some time.

You guys have to remember, this game isn't even out yet in all countries - it'd be sort of silly for them to release a patch for a game that some people can't even get yet.

I have a feeling we'll see a patch after it's been released around the entire world for awhile.... hopefully

I know they are working on a patch, but honostly - there are no obvious bugs - most peoples issues are mainly driver- and codec-related.

Though the one bug that really needs fixing is the crashing and memory-leak of the MP-Server, and all I know about that one is that DA IS WORKING ON A PATCH!

So calm down guys and check the technical forum if you have issues!

the best patch they could put out is to make everything run from the server side in multiplayer. There are too many malladjusted individuals out there who think they are great because they can hack a ship and go kill others. When I see people such as this, I try to visualize what the person looks like and what made them the way they are. No server should even bother running PVP until that is fixed.

Next it might be good to make an interactive economy. If I sell 1000 copper to a base for 200 per, I should not be able to get the same price on my next trip. A well supplied base should be able to use their recourses to build ships for more patrolls. If noone supplies a base in a certain system for a long time, that system should be crawling with pirate patrolls.

A nice editor would be good too so people can start making more ship types, eqp and adding new systems. Wouldnt it be good to be able to fly in one direction for an hour because there are that many new systems? Hireing constructor ships to build player trading posts, factories and mines might work too.

Too many things that can be done and still no word on weather anything will ever be done. Look at Neverwinter Nights. They have done very well by trying to give the online community what they want.

Man, I hope that in their patch they add at least a few new random missions!! That would be so very, very very very cool...

It would be even cooler if they added random missions that only showed up based upon your reputation.. so like if you were a pirate, you would get missions to lane hack and such. Fun!!

????
uhm what about the ai flying in the wrong direction when you get a distance of about 750m and use engine kill and bring your nose in an other direktions than your actually moving?
the ai thinks you fly into the dirktion your looing and change than really direktion ... funny to watch

or how about the bug, that your temp variables get deleted when you reload your char? this works even in mp game. is damn funny, attack a freighter, tractor cargo, rejoin with the same char, and sell the cargo at the station the freighter was on his way to, cause everything is reset to their normal faction status to you.

this aswell restores your shilds btw

how about loading up and mount 6 guns into a starflier?
just klick faster than the game can finish the operation of giving you the gun, you can end up with this with mounted more guns than your ship has even slots.

same bug make it possible to get more missiles/bots/bats than you should be able to store.

another nice bug related to this is, that under heavy lag/cpu usage, your able to buy more commodities with just paying one.
a friend told me, he was able to buy for just 900 credits (price of on at the station) a full load for his freighter of engine componets, he just has to klick fast ... nice way to make money (this is btw a very very common bug that I have seen already in nearly half a dozen games, the stupid game simply does not check it it has finished a operation befor it starts a new one, so it starts over and over again the same stuff, get the data multiple time, but closed finaly all clones of the operation with the starting operation which triggers than just one time what the operation should trigger, like a money decrease ... aswell this overrides very often checks cause the programmers did not think about this typ of failer, so this is the reason why its possible to mount 6+ guns on a starflier)

but well, maybe I am wrong, and all those bugs are just imaginations
or well
they are not important, or hardware based

Only thing I really would like to see in a patch is more mission types, 'tis all. Everything else is pretty well balanced, as far as I can see. Of course, I haven't tried MP as of yet. Not sure if it'll run all that well on dialup, anyway...
And that annoying bug with Radeons that makes everything run slow as hell when displaying large amounts of text... but that's a minor issue.

This game kicks a lot of ass as is, so far, most fun I've had since Privateer..

Come on over to the Dark Side y'all...it'll be a hoot[!

Hmmm....
I guess people would have to think n figure stuff out if there wasnt a fixed price economy and we cant have that, can we?

Post Fri Mar 21, 2003 2:36 am

who would want to mount 6 guns on a starflier...

Post Fri Mar 21, 2003 11:41 am

who would want to mount 6 guns on a starflier...

dunno, its not like you could do this not instead with other weapons in other ships ... how do sound 4 nomad blaster and 4 nomad cannons in your eagle to you, or how about double the skyblast-b in your hammerhead, and go than titan hunting

add 2 sunslayer torp launcher to it, with some free torps, and hmmm lets say 6 kraken type 2 ... what we get here? a ship that can kill any player with 2 hits ... hehe not even cheating just bug abusing

ah btw, what I have forget cause I did not seen it myself is this cash bug someone reported ... 95 mil just from nowhere ^-^
