Vote: favorite ship in each class

When choosing a favorite ship, it's hard to avoid thinking "very heavy fighter" or "big load freighter." I side-step that problem by asking for your favorite ship in each class: light fighter, heavy fighter, very heavy fighter, and freighter. Now, no ship need be left behind due to it's obsolescence in the end-game.

Light Fighter: Legionaire - it's "flying wing" design makes it's high maneuverability look graceful. I traded mine in for the Banshee's might, but I've missed the feeling of "soaring through the stars" I got with the Legionaire ever since.

Heavy Fighter: Barracuda - I want to crank up the song by Heart everytime I fly this puppy. It's unique "vertical" style bespeaks speed, agility, and agression.

Very Heavy Fighter: I really think this class needs some representation from the main factions: Liberty, Britania, Rheinland, Kusari, and Hispania. That said, the Eagle class of ship finally makes it once all of the wings are finally put in place. It has great stats, but I think it's the physical looks that carry the ship. It's down-turned, forward-swept, wings and tail give it a dangerous feel. With the powerful weaponry it can mount, those looks aren't just for show.

Freighter: The Mule. This was a hard class for me to judge. I actually like a lot of the freighters. The Mule, however, just has the right mix of design elements to make it the best choice. Everything about it says "cargo hauler." The "mouth" looks like it could drop a ramp so forklifts could load and unload cargo. The cockpit, located up top, reminds me of real utility craft, from tugboats to cargo planes. The two engines, placed out on struts, further the cargo plane look. It's the paint scheme, dirty and scarred, that complete the utility feel for this ungraceful bird.

I don't care for anything else other than very heavy fighters. Itry to play as fast as I can to be able to buy a heavy fighter since being a pirate requires serious hardware.

The faster you can take out a transport the faster you can load and move on to the next transport. I always have the most expensive torps loaded. One shot does the job.

...Yes sir thats right... just drop your cargo or I can open your hull with my twin plasma blasters, and take the cargo for myself.......Thank you, have a nice flight.

I still like the Defender. Even though I have edited it to keep me from dieing within .5 seconds, and allow me to fire a 10 class weapon more than 2 times a minute.

Light Fighter:
Hawk

Heavy Fighter:
Falcon

VHF:
Eagle

We seeing a trend here? The entire bird-of-prey series is quite simply, the best available ship at the time you can buy one. Agility, firepower, and strength, all can be yours with this series of ship.

Freighter:
Humpback.

With the second most cargo capacity in the game, and the best loadout available on a freighter, it's hard to complain. I'm not much of a freighter person. I prefer to earn my money mining. I mine wrecks.

By progression through the houses, the best ships of each class for each house and beyond:
Liberty:
LF: Starflier. Cheap, easy, and expendable, I stuck with it well into the game.
HF: Defender
Fr: Mule

Bretonia:
LF: Legionaire
HF: Crusader
Fr: Clydesdale

Kusari:
LF: Hawk
HF: Barracuda/Dragon.
Fr: Humpback

Rheinland:
LF: Banshee
HF: Falcon
Fr: Humpback

Beyond:
VHF: Eagle.

I pretty much pick my ships from this list when following a normal progression, skipping a bit if I find the ship I have right now is doing well.
