Why seperate release dates?

Hi, i'm new to this forum, so apologies if this has been asked many times.

Why has M$ set different release dates worldwide for Fl?

I live in the UK - ANOTHER FOUR WEEKS!!! And I can't order from the states as eg. Amazon.com won't send to UK from USA.

It is ridiculous and I can only feel that it is a cynical attempt to squeeze more money from the market - not that I can see how this might work.

Please explain if you know!!!!!!

Thnx

I believe that in Germany you can already get the US version right now (often with the appendix EV - which stands for 'English Version', or US), and I'm pretty sure that they would ship it to the UK (mayby with slightly higher shipping costs). I'm not sure where to get the US version in the UK though.

If you can get by in German, or a friend of you can, then you might want to check out the following sites

and

I haven't ordered the game yet myself, so I can't promise that it all works as advertised... Anybody with some experience with these retailers?

I used to work for MS back in 1998, and even back then they had certain rules about shipping to International locations. May want to ask your government why, pretty sure it's based on their regulations in regards to gaming.

Well, for foreign languages, it can take a long time to translate and integrate all that text and voiceover.

I don't know if there's going to be a "UK translation" of FL, that changes the spelling of "color" to "colour", etc.

But also, it's just hard to coordinate a massive worldwide simultaneous launch.

hmmm maybe if we had many ppl who wanted the game not in US, then i could buy many copies and then send them off to the respective addressess.. but that might take longer, more expensive, and could be really tedious, and if u dont want anyone w/ ur address, then it's a moot point...

usually games that are developed in foreign countries are released in their country first, cept for sometimes publishers want it in their country, usually US

I have already ordered 2 games at dvdboxoffice.com in Canada (Morrowind and tribunal, not to mention them). I live in France, and no shipping fee was charged. I just ordered Freelancer and it was shipped yesterday. Usually, it takes about a week to arrive. As far as it goes, I had no problem with them. I hope it will be the same with Freelancer. I think there won't be any problem to order from UK (you can even get the game faster?).
