Killing battleships

Is it a misson or can you freely go and destroy battleships
I see you have a record for the number of battleships killed how can one go about doing this.

i heard there is a mission...i know you cant destroy the battleships that have goods, guns, ships, etc. but there might be a ship or two flying around just waiting for your torpedoes

*If you have a cat and a dog in the same house, will that be a problem? Of course not, you might just have solved world hunger*

has anyone here that has finished the campaign ever come up with a mission related to destroying a battleship?
and by the way, that mod. that allows u to go beyond level two in the demo version... didn't work
Phoenix out
PS: some ofthose convoys leaving newark station carrying some nice goods and not using the trade lanes... talk about easy prey. collected a full cargo of boron for a rhino on one attack... then i hit my level two limit and game ends.... mod didn't work

no missions to kill battle ships kinda makes the most powerful weapon(s) in the game useless eh?

you can get "battleship kill counts". i killed 2 reignland gunboats during SP missions and they count as battleship kills

I Killed tons of gunboats and my battleship kill count did not rise.

The battleships you have to destroy in the campaign are nasty.
Beware.

Honestly,

Battleships are pathetic. Fly up next to them (meaning within 5 feet) and angle yourself to be out of the path of any of their turrets (usually right at the rear exaust port is best).

Then just open up with guns.

Same with Shield Generators.. Use the generator iteself to shield you from enemy fire as you destroy it.

Battleships...mmm...fun...

Me and a few friends had an ill-fated plan to attack the Missouri as it sat there ripe for the plucking. We approached in formation...as we neared, a friend and I who both had torpedoes began firing them like crazy (from max range out - they won't start trying to gun down the torpedoes till they're already hostile ) I personally unloaded almost 30, and the other guy with the torpedoes dropped about 20, while our wingmen kept the liberty police and navy and their grandmothers, and their dogs, and whatever else they could shove in a ship and send at us, busy. It was all nothing more than a colossal waste of time and money. The two of us with the torpedoes made it to cruise and got away while the other two were a bit less fortunate... After that, I decided to stick to a life of piracy as no one in liberty liked me...

-- Minor Spoiler --
(nothing worse than what other people have said...)

The moral of the story, attacking the battleships you can dock at is a good way of gathering at one location every fighter in a system and then some, but it's not good for much else. In the SP campaign, I destroyed like 5 or 6 battleships during story missions, but i've yet to see any free-flying battleships in MP.

Question - does anyone know if you get missions for the pirates to take out troublesome battleships? I haven't seen this yet, but I was thinking about it as I was blowing up yet another 'base' with 4 weapons platforms...

what weapons are best to take out battleships?

Sunslayer torpedos.

Now remember[! First you pillage and THEN you burn[!

I have 2 battleship kills..

Gunboats don't count as battle ships but in sp there are a few battle ships that can be taken out in the middle part of the game. non stationary battleships that appear in the story line trying to block things. The trick is though you need to get the last hit on it, if someone else gets the kill then it doesn't work. I always did it with guns. I've tried using missles on big ships and shield generators and missles don't seem to do any damage to them. I would bet that anything that doesn't have a blue bar (shields) is unaffected by missels. Just the way they coded that game. Gunboats also seem to not be affected by missels.

I'm with huffer.
I beat some battleships in liberty with sunslayer torpedos and 2 ships heavy weaponed.

Is fun see a lot of patriots and defenders firing your level 10 shield and a bunch of sunslayer torpedos about to crush the battleship. Next time we go to try with bretonia battleships but i think it will be easy too.
