IGN''s Contest

Here's a thought...

If they are giving the stuff to the ten who come closest, what if more than ten people get 'em ALL right. I did it last night and I KNOW I got 'em all right. The clips actually tell you stuff about the character's, too. It's not just matching voice It's matching life with name.

So, yeah, what it more than ten people get 'em ALL right? Do they take the first ten who got it right and submitted? Or do they draw names or something or what? These are the things they need to acknowledge.

Seemed kinda silly to make the contest after the game's already been released. Hell, you could just sit down with all the wav files and get the clips perfect.

(admittedly, there's not much reason to try to win a copy of Freelancer when you already have it)

Woulda made more sense to do the contest pre-release, when folks would have had to guess.

Well, yeah, but then no one would know the character voices. If they were smart, they would have had them say something completely pointless. If you listen to what they're saying, they tell you all about themselves. I didn't even bother listening intently to the subtleties in their voices. I just listened to what they were telling me about themselves and determined it from there.

On the topic of why they're giving out a game....It seems pretty stupid to me. the contest is so get ALL 12 right that it's gonna cost 'em an arm and a leg to give a free copy of the game. They should have just stuck to the mousepad and thrown in a T-shirt. But they should let you pick a career path theme for the mousepad and the T-shirt and put the appropriate character (like the ads list on he Freelancer site) on it. That would have made more sense. Instead they're gonna spend 500 bucks for 10 copies of the $50 game PLUS whatever the cost of the mousepads.

Now, the fan fiction contest was better. At least the incentive was a SIGNED copy of the game. If I won that, which I SERIOUSLY doubt I will, I would reseal my copy and give it to my cousin as a gift and keep the signed one.

Anyhow, I e-mailed IGN asking what they would do in the event of a more-than-ten-way-tie and they haven't gotten back to me. I'm gonna check more deeply into it and see if I can get a quicker response.
