Ok I get what that does. Btw Epsilon mod is not compatible with Real Space.

louva ;

i noticed the wepon damage stats seem to be reduced from some of the posted
listings on tlr. are the weapon stats changed in this mod.

also i have not noticed any change in speed ratings or abilites of other ships,
but im only flying the titan now and maybe that hasnt changed.

i do like the ai improvements very much.

There are no weapon modifications in Real Space. And the speed thing you would not notice in a Titan. Very Heavy Fighters have the same original speed of 80kph while Heavy Fighters have a speed of 100kph and Light Fighters have a speed of 150kph.

I have figured out how to add some of the system background components back into the mod so hopefully the next version will look even better. There is also a new option I am thinking about that gives the option to use an alternate economy system, if you use it then you will have to rediscover all your trade routes since they are vastly different than before.

Louva;

a new trading system and routes would be very nice, how about including

some of the new ships and weapons that have come out ? like maybe the

colonial viper and some of the other fine new mods. then it would really

feel like a new and improved game. - realspace is the only place to float

Post Mon Dec 15, 2003 7:51 am

If I did that then this mod would not be entirely my own work. Besides I don't have the time to go through and test out each custom ship that has been released to see which if any meet with the level of quality I require. Real Space was not meant to be a large mod, just an enhancement over the original game.

ok your right.

if custom ships work then so be it. actually the colonial viper mod does work with
real space.

i think what the game lacks most is a sense of purpose. sure its nice to see all the stations and ships, but as a player its hard too feel connected to the people or the factions. this quality is what the game lacks most.

Post Tue Dec 16, 2003 6:38 am

There are limits to what can be done about that.

The idea that there's such a short leash on the limits of purpose are absurd. Either make new SP missions, or make some interesting stuff for MP... Either way, changing the brightness and calling it new is going to lack purpose if you don't add something to the game. I must say that it's interesting in some systems, but the darkness really gets to me. Since none of us have actually been into deep space, no one knows what exactly it would look like, so I say digital anvil's guess is good enough for me.

this idea is probably asking for a lot, but could you space out the planets more? then make the tradelanes go fast enough to keep proper proportionate time.

the point of that is to make tradelanes really feel faster than skipping them. if you are a criminal, you have harder work.

maybe just test it out with one system like new york to see what its like before going all out with it.

Unless I am mistaken he was talking about Freelancer not Real Space. As for the darkness in space.. well if you ever paid attention in science classes you would have had the answer to that by 3rd grade or earlier Back then I did a lot of study on my own about space and what can be found in it ie black holes, star types, etc. Space is a very dark place unless there is an object for the light to reflect off of.

Yes i was talking about Freespace. I think realspace is the best looking

space mod which also makes many realistic improvements without

changing everything. The Nebulas look great. Im sure Realspace was a lot
more work than just changing some color lookup tables.

I quess what i would enjoy most would be able to join a faction, wear the

uniform of the faction, maybe even have rank within factions, wich could mean

better missions and your own personal flight wing. And of course first pick of

all the lovely female pilots

Post Wed Dec 17, 2003 2:59 am

To a degree you can set it up so you can 'join' a faction by modifying the empathy settings and there is already the rank system. As for changing uniforms.. that doesn't work automatically but could be done via an external program on the server side. The only way you could have your own fighter wing is through singleplayer mission scripting which is predefined.

So far I've upgraded Liberty and Kusari space to have more complete backgrounds. It makes space much more interesting I think.

This probably isn't the most appropriate place for this, so I'll keep it quick. If you've been in deep space before, speak up and tell everyone what exactly it's like. If you haven't, make the mod however you like, but bear in mind that there's not a "more realistic look" to the deep space, it can only be more realistic according to your (and probably many other peoples) opinion. Once again, good job with it, not trying to tear it down or anything.

actually the hubble telescope pictures of the nebula are really something

everyone should take a look at, these are some of the most beautiful pictures

of space ever seen. while not taken from deep space, they are looking through

deep space from earths orbit. will post a link shortly. and if you wanted to

compare those pictures to freelancer with and without realspace mod i think

you would see a closer match with the realspace mod.

HERE is the link for the hubble pics. Second edit for better link.
