I agree, building up a char is the fun part. And doing it in a new mod with new challenges is even more fun. And mod makers tend to have something in there to ease the pain, god bless them, so there is allways a way to get started.

And I'm pretty sure there will be an easter egg in Evo 1.28 as well. And remember, when the going gets tough, the tough gets going. :->

Is there any changes EARLY in the mod? ie. Something that would make the story missions in 1.28 different to 1.27. Like, a new ship or guns or something?

Also, about the house of Romanov.
1. Will other Coallition nations be added later? Like China?
2. Will there be any new corporations and pirates created for Romanov?

There is a long kind of detailed story behind Romanov that separates them from the Coalition nations, so there is no plans at the moment to be adding any more coalition type houses.

Until I can find the time to design a whole new line of ships the red star will have to remain I'm afraid. I wanted something distinctive that would let you know who they belong to while being uniform. When using ships that are not yours you are limited as to what you can do.

Btw Romanovs crest was two-headed black egel/hawk on bright backround.

Allso N.Romnov II was the last tsaar before the red october hence the red star.
In Evo 1.28 are they renegades from earth? Is there any backround story for them? Cos the Tsar Nicholas the second was last of the Romanovs.

The Romanov's were'nt all exterminated though. There are several descendents that exist today that lay claim to the (now non-existent) throne.

So basically we have no intention of bringing the coalition back but we felt that a russian house would be a great addition to the houses.

Kirghiz has been working on a storyline that will explain it all perfectly.

I did research on the Romanov crest and came up with the same image of the two headed eagle. However most still people associate russia with the red star. Even today in the post-communist Russian Republic the red star remains the symbol of the Russian Air Force.

So while agree with you on the crest I took an artistic license and went with the red star.

The whole thing is loosely based on Russian history, remember this is fiction we are talking about, and a story that occurs over 1000 years after the Russian Czars. Things don't have to be exact, and they don't have to have their true emblems that they had in true history.

It is just as closely tied to it's true heritage as Rheinland, Liberty, Kusari, and Bretonia. Which is to say, not very much aside from using some names and so forth.

I don't think there's anything wrong with the Romanov paintjob. In space, the constrast between black and red will be reduced greatly because space=dark.

Can we please stop with the nitpicking. This mod will be awesome with all these different houses and symbols representing these different houses.

So Chip, when is the estimated release date for Evolutions 1.28?

Its kinda tough to estimate a release date due to work. Hence at one point two weeks ago i thought i was about 2 weeks from finishing it. However, some crashes started, and after about 3 days of not finding the problem, i downloaded the last working version, lost 2 weeks of work before that, and started from there.

So that was a 2 week delay basically

Then you have things like - i mod stuff, think its fine, and then the beta team find out that i missed stuff, i didn't get it 100% correct and its causing a crash somewhere (or the funniest one is that i forget to put a file in when uploading for them to test.....which means that it crashes every time they try to load ) or a fix didn't work right/i forgot to finish it off properly. This means that right now i am working constantly on bugs and stuff, whilst they find them. Then i upload versions and they check them again whilst i fix more stuff.

The other thing is that Panther is still working on some ships. We have some going "spare" at the moment, so everyone is checking the ones added so far are balanced, sell in correct places, have good loadouts/correct equipment, and also that everything is cool (balanced).

This means that there are 4 stages left really....

1. Fixing all little bugs/adjustments (includes new bases and stuff)/problems until perfect through testing..

2. Balancing all ships up and ensuring that they are all correct and work well.

3. include the final batch of new ships, test/balance/position them.

4. Final beta testing stage including online with a dedicated server

okay - so there is alot to be done. I am only one coder, and have done more work then most other mods together . The mod contains over 1100 files. Now you might say rebal is 1300 or so - BUT that has 550 ships files, we have only got around 130 ships files. We have more ini files than any other mod. There is one HECK of alot of stuff in here, and we DON'T plonk stuff in......we strive to balance and explain everything

So my best guestimate would be at least 3 weeks left at the best.......but to be honest, i don't like giving out release dates - cause i can never keep them. Heck - this was going to be ready for a german games magazine - and that was way back in like January

especially if it means the equipment dealer is gonna sell PLAID PAINT JOBS!
or something to that effect, somehow. can't take life too seriously and all that. )

just out of couriosity, All the systems from 1.27 will still be there, right?

I have only explored Florida so far (due to working on my first project with modding) and was looking forward to checking out others. But can't wait for 1.28! Great Work Chips!

By the way Chips, will I have to do anything differant to my "project" to make it work with 1.28?

Very nice mod Chips. I have one question though, when you said "balancing out all the ships" do you mean you will balance the default FL ships too? Additionally, I am not sure that classed mounts are a good idea.

Shouldn't the weapon selection be based on how good a power supply you have?

Also, how come I can buy VHF power upgrades for a LF? It would be preferable to have classless mounts (and perhaps mounts only for guns, or missiles.... possibly), and somehow make it so the upgrades are available depending on the size of the ships (a Battleship power supply on a Ghost.... wow. EDIT! Sorry, messed up, I meant VHF Power Upgrade MK2, not a BS power suppy. oops.)
