So, this is a faq, topic with answers for questions asked 1000times...

No order, just as things come...

SP only: When fleeing from Manh, you get killed instantly-> reload, pray for your chosen god, and hit thruster as soon as you can. The cruisers range has been increased...

Engine draws energy for the ship's power source. this is mostly not noticeable, only when cruising. The Patriot can only go say 10k before runing out of energy-> hit engine kill when you are low on energy, and let it charge back. In some fights i was using engine kill and thrust only to move as first power plants are very weak.


Some things are not called properly, mostly in new systems...



SW ships are invulnerable: Almost, their surface file is not correct, they can be hit on a very small area. Shoot down their shields as normal, and fire missiles, cruise missiles, mines. They will detonate and take down the bad guys. Or make a proper .sur file for it


Some guns use ammo and energy-> most photon guns (mostly photon guns: sunfurys, barragers, Kusari photon blaster. Cluster missiles, etc.) (also, cluster missiles are weaker than their "normal" counterparts, check out the stats before buying)

Warp/Hyper drive: if you press engine kill in a ship with 2 or more mounted engines, you will go very fast. Very fast==4k/sec+. To stop, press increase/dec speed. Press strafe or thruster if want to slow down a bit. Do not unmount, or buy other engines, or you lose hyper. You can get it back only if you buy the ship again. (or unmount one, if you want "normal engine kill)

Do not destroy bases. If somebody docks out, the server crashes. I think undocking NPCs also crash the server.

If you are stuck at a base with a capship, (usually smaller, asteroid bases) select your char again, if doesn't work, try it again. And go to the edge of the base.

The White Star cruiser is not controllable. If you are playing SP, than look it up in the shiparch.ini, and change its type to Freighter. If you are in MP, don't buy it.

EA bugs:
-keeps on crashing-> avoid as much as you can. Don not engage multiple fleets, or the server will crash (~99%). Server owners: you can remove some encounters, or decrease the chance of fleets apperaring. The file is /data/universe/system/_choose a system_/system_name.ini (eg: li01/li01.ini ->this is NY. EA is in the EA directory)

An encounter looks like this:

encounter = capitalships_Escorts, 19, 0.250000
faction = li_n_grp, 1.000000

translation: li_n_grp->Liberty police, they some capships apperar there. and chance of appearing is 25% (0.25). Remove this two lines, or reduce the chance.

-Commodityes: buying huge amount of certain commodities are considered cheating by the 1.1 server. Buying commodities in EFA is dangerous, because some of them is non existent, or something like that->will be kicked4 cheating when undocking.


Some ships have bugged hardpoints, DO NOT unmount those "weapons", sell them. (somebody plz post these ships, im having a headache)

If the game locks up/boots you for cheating after doing something, don't do it any more
