MICHEAL THE DAGGER CAN ONLY HAVE 1 CMP FILE THE OTHER ONE WILL NOT WORK THAT IS THE BUG NOT THE INI FILE I AM SAYING THIS CAUSE I WANA FLY IT WITH NO PRoBS AND NOT CHEAT

um big error: in the ghost scout ship when you take off sometimes the ship gets all blocky and looks horrible. i like the ghost a lot so could you fix this please. half of a ship is the looks.

Sorry to say this, but EA is worse than it was in 3.20...
Have all the patches and othervise the game is table, no crash for 4-5hours, but when i or somebody else goes to EFA, 99% crash in a few minutes.

(patrol with a damocles and 3 tempests look realy coooool too bad can't see them for a long time without crash)
(as i saw NPC capships dont't really use their beam guns in "beam mode", they only fire a few shots/sec. Thinking about fixing this, but it would realy criple most servers. Several hundred shots/ship/sec. Don't think non-sponsored-by-big-companies servers have that much bandwith.)


Good work, know you spent much of your time for free, but RB still needs some very serious fixes...

lukr, that's why i asked MD to perhaps make an optional patch to decrease some of the traffic in EFA system. Seems that ALL those ships are the cause of all the crashes i've seen so far (which have been quite a few). Now, since i bashed a little, i'd like to actually clap MD on the back for a job well done. The Upgrades you can buy are absolutely FANTASTIC, and make the game so much fun. They are well thought out, and do what they are supposed to, and add another dimension to the game. I sincerely hope we can get a patch to lower the traffic in EFA, and i think that would make the mod way better...

Anyways, yes this is an awesome mod.. and yes... it has ALOT of crashes. No matter what server you visit it may play fine for a time.. but eventually its like a disease.. the server crashes.. and afterwards forms a pattern of crashes that get closer and closer together. I am not so sure the traffic would fix it all.. but the prroblem does seem to be in EFA. I wouldnt think traffic would matter if no ones around to see it. Also none of the commadities are buyable in EFA besides the Jupiter base. It automatically kicks you when you try to undock. I think the server on Ioncross tells administer that the commadities in player possesion do not exist and therefore player is kicked for cheating. Maybe there is a fix for this as well. In all reality the EFA is just a bad place in the game for problems. Without it I believe everything would run fine. But its a fun place to be and great money making area if you can survive it. So to get rid of it would suck too. Maybe rather than make a patch.. you could just modify 3.30 and rerelease as 3.40 or something and eliminate a few bugs that way. But then its probably an endless cycle of bugs isnt it.. In any case if this mod were to reach a point of being bug free and server crash and lag due to the mod were eliminated, I think this could become the most popular Freelancer mod available right now. After all you have Ioncross's new mod coming up to compete with, and that wont be easy. I bet your sick of dumping time into it by now though lol. I would be. Anyways just a few suggestions from Chibi! Peace out all!

Oh and on a second note... if someone who comes to this forum has a good size bandwith to work with.. it would be nice to have an official server for rebalance instead of spreading out the fans in a few little sites that always have problems anyways. And Michal Dan could help admin if he wanted when there are problems... since he made the mod he may know how to fix things quickly. If someone out there is thinking of starting an official server that can work with MD if he wants to, it would benefit the popularity of this mod greatly. The more players are in one server the more attention it gets. Not to many want to play in an empty server, and right now theres no good rebalance server up really. They all come and go and crash constently. I thought two geeks was gonna do well.. but alas now it has befallen crashes consistently and seems to be permanantly down lately. Out of 8 servers i had found last few weeks none have lasted and none have run stable. But if we can fix the bugs and unite all the fans in one server. It would be a truly AWESOME server. I even tried to start my own for a time. But no one joined and my bandwith isnt that bad but if i play while running the server it will lag and thats no fun. So we need a dedicated if ANYONE has an idea post please. Thanks! And Dans the man! Keep it up your work is appreciated I assure you.

I have a problem "seeing" some ships. The jsut don't appear at all. Their engines are there, and they catch fire when they're near destruction.

DO I need something other than the 3.30 and 3.30 patch?


PS: Where is the deathscythe sold?

Calacon... you probably have your performance settings turned down.. some items will not show up if your detail level isnt all the way up. And some mod ships are considered objects.. try that.

seems like your prob is that you reinstalled FL when an mod was active i cant see any other posebility also you need to activate FSDK first then the main mod then the patch

Ghost looking freaky: cmp error?
dagger stilldoesnt work: FIXED BY ME
some small bugs that include ship cmp file errors posible elite ships in freelancer lol

edit: MD, your are right, i just looked up the files, and tried the first thing i thought about it. Especially, in most cases 3 or even more parties were fighting in EA. (just picked the first line, didn't want to remove the EA police)
Surely decreasing the chance is better for most cases.
But removing a few encounters, would decrease the number of opponent, so AI pilots would deal only with 10 enemies, not 20-30-40.

(eg. what are hessians doing@Malta, that's soo far from their home, or rouges in EA. They were only a some small gang compared to Outcasts/Corsairs in original FL.)

Testing in MP-> what about uploading the mod somewhere before the official release, and some fanatics could test it in MP? Not 100% of bugs would show up, but lots of them would do in a few days.

there is a way to remove or reduce encounters in EA (hope MD this doesn't bother you, maybe ) look in the file

"freelancer\DATA\UNIVERSE\SYSTEMS\EA01\ea01.ini"

and remove some of the encounters. Not the first ones, they define the type if im right. look below, there are encounters for areas:

[Object
nickname = ea_01
ids_name = 459159
pos = 16314, 0, -7607
...
encounter = area_defend, 1, 0.090000
faction = ea_p_grp, 0.680000
...

tried it, and EA is empty now. just was a short test, so don't know if this removes all crashes, but removing some of them should help reducing server load.

And maybe do the same for Omicrons, and places where biiiig battles happened.
Dont remove all of them, only take out a few, so battles would happen, only more rarely.


And this is a server-side only mod, so server owner can do whatewer hi/she wants to do.

also, the server log shows errors like:

just checked, there is no "orion" system in the referenced directory!

But also errors like:

could be fixed, i think... (not good at FL modding/system building, but dont know what errors, but surely this is not good....)
