If single player game is too hard, do this.

God Mode
Go to My Documents\\My Games\\Freelancer\\PerfOptions.ini and change
DIFFICULTY_SCALE = 1.00
to
DIFFICULTY_SCALE = 0.00

This does NOT work in multiplayer.

that might not even let you get out of manhatten on missen 1

You could also make it so 50% of enemy fire will hurt you by putting in

DIFFICULTY_SCALE = 0.50

75%

DIFFICULTY_SCALE = 0.75

25%

DIFFICULTY_SCALE = 0.25

Etc.
