well, I got the email, but where are those dlls? It does not work with those. It's not something urgent, I use flresize mk2 with a link containing commandline parameters, so that's easy go for me, and so far I dont think I would ever have to resize any of the existing ships. Thanks anyway.

Ok, maybe I am being a complete n00b or something, but I load the CMP file into the CMP side of the program and then load the SUR file into the other side. If I click Resize of the Sur File and try and get it to resize automatically to the CMP file size, it just returns the error message that CMP file is not loaded. I go back to the CMP side and it is still there.

Got the exact same problem, and with all the bugs I had with my Tradelane Ring, well... You understand..

(I think I talked to you about it Anton Still not solved )

You have to run the CMP through the resize process first, so that the radius is set properly

Then load up the CMP and use it to resize the SUR... works great

Post Mon Dec 13, 2004 6:09 pm

Okay...

I open CMP, I open SUR, I click resize, I resize by 1, CMP resized, I save CMP, I go in SUR file, I click resize, set the param to match CMP, click ok, and it tells "No CMP loaded. Please Select..."

Am I so stupid I can't ever use a program correctly???

Post Mon Dec 13, 2004 7:09 pm

Just open the CMP again, and it works

Yes, I know, that's a little bit of jumping-through-hoops... I've just gotten so used to the extra steps that I hardly notice, hehe

*embarressed grin* auto-resize must've got broke when fixing something else, i hadn't even noticed it...

Edit :
Hmmm not sure why it was broke but made it work again... Making binary patch to fix the issue. Will mail to all those in this thread and post for downloading.

@ FriendlyFire - did you send me the model to test? been through my emails and couldn't see one. Just tested standard tlrlod.3db & sur and they seem to resize ok but not made a mod to test in game.

Edit 2 : Shouldn't need to reload CMP now either

Edit 3 : Gave up with the binary patch after 45 minutes and 1% complete... uploading revised program... soz all

Ahh... At least I wasn't crazy
If I could only get this message to come on my e-mail... (Hotmail opens NO exe file, so I try to forward it to GMail, but it takes long...) As soon as I got the FLModelTool fixed, I'll try the SUR Resizer, I'll look carefully at every setting, and if nothing works, I'll e-mail you the file.

Look here please:

Is there a solution for the wings, window etc. not being placed properly. Because if there is, this will open up a whole new approach to large scale systems, by making ships, stations etc. smaller! It's just that the subparts like wings don't get placed properly, although the DamagaPoints are correct, and the sur file si, too.

Will do my best

From what I have heard, it is because it does not scale the positions of the subpart mesh origins.

If you get this to be solved, you will do me (and the community, too) an extreme favour. I am making a TC which wqill take place in ouir solar system, and Instead of making each planet a "sector" (techincally: system) with jumps between them and making the planets huge, I could build the whole solar system in one single system in miniscale, then resize all used objects accordingly and fly within a halfway realistic huge solar system. I will build this miniature system (which will still be like 300k in diameter, but objects will be tiny to b realistic) and include a custom-made ship which does resize properly because it has no destructible subparts.

It was fun to fly in the mini-system. However, Travelling would be ridiculous, as the speed units of FL does not handle speeds below 1m/s very well, and those would be required for such a tiny scaled world. That said, I will stick to the sectoring method (each planet a system), and once the resize works properly, I can scale it all down by 10 and have a perfect rendering at all distance.
