Instant Action

I was just thinking about the instant action and how much it sucks... you fly against a time kill a bunch of ships attack some bigger ships and do it all over again... joy... they should have tried to spice it up, no timer and just waves of fighters and kergens comin after you an some teammates. But what would have been really cool is if you could have thrown in dozens of fighters along with a bunch of cap ships slugging it out, woulda been much funner, i like close combat with cap ships, dodging plasma balls and torps while blasting away at enemy fighter and trying to not run into a cap ship, just put a few km's between the cap ships and start the fun... whatya think? if u die u would just launch again.

Wonder if you could mod out the time limit...and mod in a different ship. It would be cool to try that out as one continuous battle until you get vaped.

Reaper: $200,000,000.
Rockets: $100,000
The look on that pilot's face when you launch a full pod of screamers up his tailpipe: priceless

exactly, at the very least it would make it interesting and less annoying

I haven't tried but I think you can mod in a different ship. But not the time. Check out SL edit.

okay this is the entire breakdown of how i play IA
depending on how long im fighting if i want to get all the way to the czar i pick the patriot w/ 1jackhammer 1 hawkpod 1 raptor pod 1 imp 1 solomonpod
first level basic fighters no biggie
boss: 2 kurgens
second level medium fighters
boss: 2 kurgens and a gurivech
third level basilisks
boss: berjev command ship
fourth level better pilots in basiliks
boss: C.S. Bandonov
fifth level lons of fighters
boss: Ramases Kirov and Yestafy
sixth level basiliks and kugens
boss: fly though a warpgate in time and you fight the czar mono a mono
at the end of this battle you leave the simpod and enriques gives you some really corny congratulations and then you go back to the main screen.

NOTE 1 after every boss battle your afterburner and missles are reloaded/refilled
plus you get a time bonus for every boss of about 1.5 minutes and for every fighter wave 30 seconds.
i have had an extra 9.5 minutes once but still failed because if you fail to kill all the capships in the fifth level you get NO reloads or refills.
NOTE 2 to kill a capship make it a floating hulk in space in other words shott away all its turrets, it shield generators and engines
NOTE 3 in the battle vs. the CZAR it has four shield generators and four engines but for the czar you must have one jackhammer to do it in just like in the actuall mission. it will have armor plate, reactor cover and all.

well thats my spiel

Officially, you can't. Download SLEdit from the main page and use it to switch the Grendel with [ship of your choice. And edit the stats while you're at it to resemble [ship of your choice, coz it will still have Grendel's stats.

It's been a long time, and I never really used mod ships extensively. Give a shout in the SL modding forum, someone else should be able to help

StarlancerAce,

Did you do a Patriot - Grendel switch via SL Edit, or did you edit a particular file?

The IA right now is pretty bad that you can't pick a ship and arm up like a regular mission.

Thanks,

SMATZ

KimK: Then start IA, and the ship you used to replace the grendle will be there. You could even use a custom ship. So again, you have to download SLEdit (available at this site in the utilities section), download the update to it, enable the ship switcher, switch the grendle w/ your ship of choice (or download a ship, import it w/ SLEdit, and switch the grendle w/ that), then go to IA in SL, and poof... no grendle.
