System Requirements for Starlancer

Hello All, Just joined glad to find you and the site here.....much appreciate it. I am working up throgh the history of Space Sims and have just begun on the Starlancer universe.....just got both SL and FL, and hope to enjoy it all.

I was loading Starlancer last night and the speech text that underlays the loading screen started fine and then his voice got slower and slower and changed and I was worried that my system was not right for it, so I stopped the load.

I have a Pentium III Coppermine 1.1 Ghz Dell Dimension 4100 with 512 RAM and
40 GB Hard Drive, GeForce FX 5500 Vid card with Audigy ZS 2 snd card and Windows 98 SE OS, the game specs say it works for Win 95, 98, etc...but
maybe my system is too fast? Should I try to lower the sound acelleration or the vid card aceleration? I really want to play the game but wanted to ask here first.

I tried loading FL and got a freeze after about three minutes of play, but iwll post that in the other forum.

any suggestions would be great.....thanks

Your system should be find for that. I don't have the box handy. I'd let the install continue, you should be fine unless it crashes. If the problem persists in gameplay, try messing with the SL audio options, chiefly disabling 3D sound.

Thank you very much Colonel, I do appreciate the reassurance. I will proceed and hope that all goes well with the mission. I am eager to begin and now I see that there are MODS for Freelancer....are there any for Starlancer? Thanks again for
your kind and courteous reply.

There are a few mods out there, mostly for ships. SL is much easier than FL to do your own ship mods, but they can get unstable sometimes. Play the game though first. In some ways, its even superior to FL. Enjoy. Welcome to TLR.

Will do, I am looking forward to it, AFTER i master somewhat the pilot skills, i have been a wet navy sim pilot and skipper but not in four dimensions yet.....and the first crack at the training session in SL demo I think i got the flight instructor pretty impatient with me...but i will persevere
thanks again and thenks for the welcome in..... i hope to contribute as iget more space worthy!

Thanks for the welcome, I shall endevour to perservere.....at the outset,
after one "training" mission, my first flight with the demo of SL, I got
quite lost trying to stay up with the squadron (they nagged me a LOT....)
and bymistake shot one of "our " own capital ships, maybe it was a
merchie...or a cruiser....and got scolded for that too......so I had to
wait a while until my confidence came back.....and got the full game from
MS........now to try again! Thanks a lot.

Good luck with it. Keep in mind that the training is pretty much useless. A few minutes of staring at the keyboard card is all it takes to get the hang of most of the nuances. The rest is best done by seat of the pants training, that is, just diving right into the SP game. The first few missions are specifically geared so you have to work to lose.
