What's your favorite ship for SL and why? I of course have to say the Shroud, once it's accessable, but before that I'm definitely into the Coyote. Seven hardpoints and blind fire to boot. Not a bad arrangement. Lately I've been experimenting with the Mirage, which has excellent speed and firepower, and could be my new ship of choice.
Have to say Patriot, decent weapons and still some missle space and can pack quite a wallop. However,Phoenix does come a extremely close 2nd..if only it carried some more missles then it'd be perfect

I have to sadly place the Reaper and the Wolverine in the same category. Both have huge firepower, but 1) don't look that great (sorry, looks count a little bit for me), and more importantly 2) can't manuever worth squat. I didn't like the Grendal for this same reason, but after flying a bit of Instant Action I've grown to like it a little better. I suppose this shows that you can't fairly judge a ship without flying a mission or two in it. That said, having flown nearly half the missions in the coyote, I'd have to say that 7 hardpoints plus blindfire and fairly good agility and shields make it one of the most versitile ships out there.
top ship... well that depends on what you are doing
while playing singleplayer you often have no real choice and need to take what is there
but in multiplayer you have free choice
and as a very experienced SL Deathmatch player i can only say that only 3 ships are good enough for "normal" players
the wolverine because of its firepower
the phoenix because of strong hull and medium agility
and the shroud for its high agility and speed
all those ships have the very important advantage of having a reverse thrust which is absolutly needed in multiplayer
all the top players in SL deathmatch used the shroud (even if they started playing with other ships before)
that ship is just the non-plus-ultra for hard fights
the top5 deathmatch players (including me) also used the weakest ship (the predator) for training... it has a very basic handling and is nearly as agile as the shroud but with the difference of having no reverse thrust
that ship has been used to make the training harder and to let other players feel sad coz they lost with the shroud (strongest ship) against a predator (weakest ship)
for those that want to test their skills on me ^^ you can contact me on msn ([email protected])
ill give you a free ride and maybe a small flight lesson

Yes, the Patriot is one of the most effective and versitile ships in the game, though in some ways dual tachyons and blind fire could almost be considered cheating. Most importantly, it has the looks. Some of you may disagree with this, but even top aerospace engineers have said that it eventually comes down to "if it looks good, it'll fly good." There's somewhat of a psychological aspect to SL- the cooler your ship is, the better you'll pilot it. To an extent.
