Plays fairly well but is moderately unstable and prone to crashing (at least for me). Its still very enjoyable, just plan on having to replay a few missions several times.

Thanks for that. Think I`ll stick with Freelancer.

to deactivate 3d sound does help sometimes
also the software renderer can help to pass the missions where SL does crash

but still there is a risk that SL does not work in singleplayer because of ingame scripts... in multiplayer it works pretty fine

I've only had one crash using it with XP

good to know, I am getting a newer XP system set up for FL, and have only tried the SL demo on my current Win 98 SE with high end vid card and sound card,
and will try the slow down on the 3D acell......

I get continual crashes on my top of the line system. Its unfortunate considering how fun this game is.

The crashes occur because your system is top of the line. You need to downgrade, ironically enough to have any hope of playing this with any kind of stability. Disabling the 3D sound option allegedly helps.

Yep, dissabling the sound did the trick. Thanks.
This game still rocks. The efx don't seem dated at all.
