I like Starlancer, but still I think Freelancer is the better game. But all I can play right now is Starlancer because my freeking CD-Rom drive doesn't work. It has been almost 9 months scence I last played Freelancer. So sad, sob sob
Failure is not an option, everything elce is.

I DL'ed the SL trial version, it was good, but I still prefer Freelancer any day. Acually, when you get used to it, the mouse controle isn't that hard. I like the joystick of SL, but SL just doesn't have the freedom as Freelancer. It says it in the name and the motto, FREE lancer. And in the motto, it says, ahem.
Wow! Nice to see the renaiisance of the SL forum!
I never played FL, so can't tell my opinion about it, but I prefer joystick control in a flight sim. Yes, SL is an oldie now, but it's still fun to play over and over again. As to controls - you have a manual, so the tutorial is not really necessarry (well unless you want to do it). What is not included in the manual is the operation of the nova cannon, which I figured only with the help of TLR members. Speaking of the powerball, I think transfering more power to weapons should speed up their recharge rate and thus firing speed. Can't tell for sure as I haven't tried it yet. Blindfire is excellent for torpedo hunt, while full guns are mostly used for close combat, where you need more firing power, and blindfire is not that necessary.

That's easy - ignore the orders and deal with the fighters/kurges first. Second, go to each of the power cores and fire at them. You won't destroy them, but they'll need only a few shots later. Then go to the research facility and deal with the turrets. Next, locate the Gamma as soon as they jump in and run to them on your afterburners. you'll see a Kurgen jumping in. Destroy it ASAP (screamers are best IMO). Even if it manages to destroy one of the Gamma, the mission is still go. After that, afterburn to the warp gate, wait till the shileds are down (i.e. the research facility is destroyed) and finish off the power cores. You'll have a clas one Coalition carrier toasted for dessert. Good luck
