**Tutorial** - Making big planets

It is possible, but boring. A lot of mods are trying to get rid of the uber ship stats, so that there is no ship that is totally superior to almost all others.

When I said realistic size, I did not mean a literal 1:1 scale, but rather scaling like that of other space games such as Tachyon: The Fringe. Currently in FL, the ship is almost as big as the planet, making no sense, and the ship is about 1/8th of a standard-size base(ie trenton). When you consider that a ship is only 4 times bigger than a person, it is incredibly unrealistic. Only 3 people could fit in the bases at their current size, and that would be a stretch; ever seen pics of a Saturn V rocket cockpit? Think that but smaller. Yet the FL info blatantly proclaims that the base harbors ~1500 people. That doesn't fly, the bases & planets have to be large enough to give you the impression of immense size; if it doesn't give you that feeling, then how can you be expected to feel the game?

As they stand, the FL world is just too small.

That's the point of making larger planets and suns, even things up a bit. Guess bases will be next...

I found the answer to my problem, I was INSIDE the planet (GROAN). FL Doesn't automatically adjust the spacing of things, so with an 8k radius Newwark is just barely visible poking out of manhattan's bulk. How can I go about fixing this (without shrinking the planet??)

Also, can bases be resized with just text-editing?

P.S. Could you enable HTML in here, or at least make your forum code have the equivalent of the necessary HTML functions (paragraph, HR, table, break return)... That would make formatting infinitely easier.

Your forum thing is driving me toward an explitive, EVERY TIME I TRY TO EDIT THE IMAGE LINK, IT SAYS NO REPOSTING. You've crossed the line between security and freedom.
