TUTORIAL: flmm usage and issues you may encounter.

for thsoe of you that STILL dont know how to use the self explanitory flmm, then here is what you do:

ill use the example of the shadow fighters on the front page right now. first, hit the download button. it asks if you want to save the file shadow.zip.flmod or open it. most likely you would want to open it, so hit that. once the file downloads and opens, as long as you ahve flmm installed then it will automatically install itself for flmm use. it will then self open flmm, and you can toggle the activation or deactivation of that mod and other mods youve used.

now, for any problems you might encounter.

acces denied problems

this means that the file stated is read only. go to the mods directory in your flmm folder, and look for the file the error stated. select it and hit properties, and uncheck read only.

game crashes after uninstalling a mod

this happens because you have a save in the my documents/my games/freelancer/accts/singleplayer that had the mod installed when saved. to fix this issue simply remove the files from this folder, and you cna start freelancer again. you may want to organize the saves into folders, ex:

rebalance 1.6
shadowfighter
etc

so that when you want to go back and reinstall the mod, you can put the saves right back into the folder and continue where you left off.

any toehr questions or concerns, let me know

To expand on this a little...

Make sure you have a clean, original, un-modified set of data files in your Freelancer directory before using FLMM for the first time. It is also highly recommended that you back up the entire DATA, EXE and DLL folders.

If you are making your own mods or customizing those that you have downloaded make sure you deactivate the mod before making any changes to it. Failure to do so may result in FLMM deleting original files from the Freelancer directories if changed version of those files were not present in the original mod.
