Making new bases from scratch

I know everyone is posting info on how to create ships and add/replace them into freelancer, but does anyone know how to create bases, ie. space stations, battleships with docking etc.

I want to create a base with docking and mooring facilities but I do not know what hardpoints to use. I had a look at the cmp file for one of the small stations and found fixed hardpoint trees for -

HpDockMountA, HpDockPointA01, HpDockPointA02, HpDockCamA, HpLaunchCamA

Fot the small station there were a number of these from A-I. Does anyone know how to set these up in your model?

Also once these have been put in the model how do you set up the docking info in the ini files, I know how to setup as a base in the solarch.ini, universe.ini and related system ini file (complete with loadouts) (Thanks to the tutorials in these forums) but I'm not sure if you need to include specific commands for docking, i.e. which docks points to use (preference wise etc).

Can anyone help?

The info you seek my young padawan apprentice can be found in the tutorial on making a new system. 7 pages long now.

No its not.

The making a new system tutorial is so basic as to be useless.
It contains large wholes and lots of missing information.

It will get a system up and working but thats it, nothing more.

Look for a thread called systems, answers to common questions.
I filled in a lot of those blanks in it already.

Thanks for the info, I've not got to the point where I can click on the dock button, however when I dock with my new model the game crashes and I get a script error in FLSpew.txt the error says missing script sc_dock_mount1?? I know this script should be attached to my models cmp file but how?

Any ideas?

Sorry Keith, just got used to people point to tutorials that dont cover the required information. Getting a bit sick of it to be honest. And yes, i was thinking about writing my own tutorial on the subject but first i want to get version 2 of my own mod out of the door.

docking:

Docks usually contain those scripts. See the solar folder for the stations inis. You dont need to go into the other folders, the one you want is directly in solar, i just forget its name. Its one of 3 in there.

Ship docking usually works without the need to tell your ships how to dock other than the can use berth/moors commands. So it could be an error in your shiparch.ini.

Eg the "can use" lines are missing or wrong.
Do a search for Berths in the editing forum and you will uncover lots of info about this.
