FL: Wierd crashing\Radeon 9700

The place to ask for technical help with running the demo or the full game...

Post Thu Mar 13, 2003 8:44 pm

Hi

Dumb question...

Have you tried running without sound? or with 3D sound disabled.
The creative cards are causing ALOT of problems with FL, usually the ones with newer driver versions. I had to revert to older drivers for my SBLive! Value to remove very annoying static.

Another issue, is your gfx card being OC'ed? FL seems to dislike any oc to the gfx card.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the darkness at Tan Hauser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time like tears in rain. Time to die.

I do know that only the very latest Catalyst Drivers by ATI for download now. Suport DX9.

If you are using an old driver this might be why you are having problems. Because they do state that some of there old drivers do NOT suport the new DX9.

I have there latest driver installed with my ATI Radeon 7500, and the game runs fine here.

Treb, It totally varies. Sometimes when the game freezes, it's a violent and sudden almost explosion sound from my speakers, and it starts repeating like a broken record, with horizontal lines flashing across the screen. I think this may be due to overheating, because it happens in every game, after i've been playing for a VERY long time. But, other times, it just kinda stops. The current image stays, and the sound continues, complete with dialoge, sound effects, etc.

Uhh dude.. is your video card overclocked?? Cuz when you get those lines and the freezes that would mean it is overheating and burning up... not good.

Are you OCING it? If you are I wouldn't.. No need to with the 9700 Pro...
