Mouse stutters in menus, and in game

I get frequent mouse stuttering in the main menus, and in game, and in flight as well. Just the mouse cursor pauses, the game still continues to run, making it a bitch to play in battles. I've turned down the acceleration 1, and 2 notches in display properties>settings>advanced>troubleshoot, and hasnt made a difference. Im not using any device specific drivers, just the ones that came with windows, and ive got 19 games installed here, and freelancer is the only one that has this mouse stuttering problem. I checked around and saw some mouse lag in the demo, but this isnt what i have. Help me please, seems to be a fun game so far.

system:
athlon xp 2200+ 1.8ghz
asus a7n8x nforce2
512mb ddr266
sblive
geforce4 ti4200 128mb
windows xp pro
logitech optical usb mouse

never argue with an idiot, they'll lower you to their level, and beat you with expierience

I get this problem in the multiplayer servers window, BUT I press alt + tab and then I click on freelancer to get back in the game, and when Im back the mouse lag or stuttering is completely gone.. If you get this ingame, try doing a quick alt tab like I do maybe It will fix your problem. oviously this isnt a permanet solution

These mouse-stutters seem to be independent of your individual system-power.
I had them at my old PIII 550 and they still show up beyond 2.0 Ghz.

btw: Starlancer and even Privateer had these stutters, too

I've seen turning down the Video resolution and/or the Color Depth to 16-bit solve problems like this..

This is probably obvious, but you never know: make sure you're not running a ton of stuff in addition to FL. Kazaa seems to do that to me and I have a pretty damn good PC.

Probably because Kazaa's spyware is running in the background.

Maybe I should have said KazaaLite, the non-spyware version. Oh well.
