The place to ask for technical help with running the demo or the full game...

multiplayer connection loss

Whenver I goto into space on a server I get this message 30 seconds later EVERY time:

The connection server has been lost. Either the server you were connected to has crashed, or your internet connection to that server is not working.

Anybody run into this problem and solve it? PLEASE help, I've had this problem from day one and cannot solve it. Just really wanna play online for a little longer than 30 seconds....

Hey,

I have exactly the same problem, and I've yet to solve it. The first thing I can say is, do you have all the latest drivers for all of your hardware installed? Do you have DirectX 9.0a installed too?

If so, then other people's best guesses to this problem are the fact that if your onboard sound, network and graphics card all share the same IRQ then that causes problems. Now although I do have onboard sound and lan, with a standard GeForce 3, they aren't sharing the requests! I'm running Win2000, what about you?

If you've managed to solve this by now, please email me with any details of how you managed it!

Cheers,

Mike.

Hi there,
Well I have the same problem. I'm running with xp. Have not yet found a solution. I was thinking that this was due to a performance problem. I play in local server and my computer run the server and the game in the same time. But I'm not an expert in this matter.

Hope we will find a solution soon.

Hey,

You know, I'm not sure it's even a performance problem (d'oh!), since I'm still unable to play on any internet servers (it just keeps disconnecting me when I enter space!), and my PC isn't the slowest (Athlon XP 2000+, 1Gb RAM) of 'em all.

Anyway, like you said, here's hoping a solution (*COUGH* patch *COUGH*) may arrive soon... :-)

Hi Mike,
You are right, it's not a performance issue. I will try to contact a friend who has a good knowledge about network and kind of things. But It will not be this week.
Meanwhile if you have something new please keep us informed.
