I'm having a similar problem with the demo, the game crashes out seemingly randomly. Most of the time it crashes when mission directions are given or when characters speak over in-space radio. The sound loops (only about a quarter second worth) and the video locks up. I'm forced to do a cold reboot.

P4 2.4
768mb pc2700 ddr ram
turtle beach santa cruz sound card
geforce2 ti
winxp home

I tried reinstalling my video card drivers, sound drivers, removing a stick of ram i thought was faulty, reinstalling DX9, turning 3d sound off, cranking down the performance settings, and no luck. Once, I actually made it from Manhatten to Fort Bush without it crashing, woohoo.

Another one over here with the same problem. The game alt-tabs itself out to windows but the sound is still on for a couple of seconds, then it freezes.

Sys conf.
AMD Athlon 1.4
512
GF 4 ti4200 128
SB Live (That´s not the problem, tried it with different cards)

I´ve tried to change graph. cards, soundcard, turn off 3d sound, turn down the detail, but nothing helps.

Same here, random lockups with sound looping or quit to Windows. Already using latest drivers, etc.

Athlon XP1700+ on ECS K7S5A
Videologic SonicFury (= SantaCruz)
HIS Radeon 9700

Ditto for me...

AMD 2100
512 DDR333
Asus Mobo
SB Live! << Haven't got latest drivers yet...
GF4 Ti4600

All latest drivers (except noted yet), DX9, XP Pro + SP1

If it's the Live! card, I would expect better from them... it's an industry standard... come on guys, fix the problem for us will ya (ie DA) :

OMG not another SB Issue. Since it is probably one of the most popular cards bought today, you would have thought someone would have fixed bugs associated with SB cards. With SL it was the 3D sound issue but still mainly to do with SB cards.

I have a SB Live! but don't have any crashing problems in the demo though. It's just minor problems with the sound in the cutscenes and most of the in-flight comms (some comms work but others don't).

Specs:
AMD Duron 1.3
768Mb DIMM memory
SB Live!
Geforce 2 MX 400
A4 Tech Wireless Optical mouse (wireless is almost a requirement to fly in FL.)
XP Professional (administrator login)
DX9

Same here. I have:

AMD XP 1600+
Epox 8KHA+ MB
512 MB RAM
Leadtek A250 VIVO (GF4 Ti4200 based)
Turtlebeach Santa Cruz
Windows XP SP-1

DX 9, plus latest Nvidia (40.72) and TurtleBeach (4161s) drivers.

I've tried all the suggestions on the MS page...reducing both audio and video acceleration as well as clean rebooting with msconfig.

I am getting random and infrequent times where my computer will just reboot while playing. There is no order to why it happens, it's totally random. I hope they release a patch soon to address our crash/reboot issues.

Windows XP Pro - SP1 OS
Pent. IV - 1.8Ghz chip
Audigy Gamer sound
Aopen AX-45 mobo
GeForce 3 Ti 500 video
1 Gig of RAM
Etc. etc.

Interesting. I've had three crashes in about three hours of play: Two CTDs, and one hard reboot.

Athlon XP 1700+, GeForce4 Ti 4400 (41.09), SB Audigy, Windows XP Pro (SP1 w/ hot fixes)

I'm beginning to wonder whether the sound card is the culprit. I'll try disabling audio hardware acceleration and see whether that helps.
