The place to ask for technical help with running the demo or the full game...

Texture problem

I've reinstalled, uninstalled, changed settings and everything. My textures won't show up. I can see lights, smoke and that kinda stuff but the people and buildings are all one color. I am running an XP2200+, 768MB RAM, GF4 Ti4400, Win 2k, latest NVIDIA drivers, Direct X9, the whole works. Anyone have a solution? or maybe an idea??

Seems something wrong with your copy/installation? WHat driver version and have you tried reinstalling? WHat seeting are you running?

If your talking about NVIDIA drivers I have the 41.09 drivers. Yes, I've reinstalled 2 or 3 times now. I actually got in there and only the city part is messed up. I hit launch and when your flying it looks fine. I'm running the settings on 1024X768X32 with details all the way up.

No one can help eh?

Nope, but I have the same problem. Using DirectX 9 and Nvidia 41.09.
Will drop a line if I find a solution.

I had the same problem...
I solved it by activating "fog table emolution".
In the display properties, choose your graphic card then direct3D setting.
There you'll find a radiobutton with "fog table emolution". Make sure it is
enabled.

If it already was enabled, i can't help you.

Thomas.

This may not work, but it is a shot in the dark.

Try lowering the resolution on the game fro 1024x768 to say 800x600. Or try reducing some of the visual affects of the game. It maybe possible that the graphics card cannot handle the required processing ??

(I am guessing only. I had some problems with GF2 MX where I lost frames when running at 1024x768. Though you do have a GF4 TI, the one I want ).

I just went into the Advanced Gfx Settings for Nvidia drivers and set OpenGL, DirectX, etc., to defaults; "Restore Defaults button". That suggestion about Fog Table Emulation is interesting also, and it appears the Restore Defaults enabled it on my setup. So maybe that is the fix.

Thanks.

Yes, enableing fog table emolution solves the problem.

It only happens on planets with fog (eg manhattan). At first I didn't know that. Then it happenet to me in space. I followed a pirate into a nebula. The moment I entered the nebula the textures were gone. That's when I realized that it is cause by fog.

I opened the display properties and found fog table emolution being disabled. Of course it must be enabled for correct fog display. For some strange reason the latest detonator drivers disable it during install.

Just enable it.

Thanks guys for all your help! The fog emulation table was the problem. Thanks again! It'd be nice to have a 1280X1024 res too.
