Leveling past 18 after SP game

Alright, I noticed a link in another post that might have answered this question but the link was broken or some such.

I've finished the SP version of the game several times, however it doesn't seem like I can get past level 18, which means that I can't buy/use the better/best ships and weapons in the game. I thought that the fix was in the UnOfficial 1.4 patch, but it doesn't seem to have worked. Can anyone help me out? Thanks.

The patch is for MP game. Are you running any mods? If not, check the credits to next level and work odd jobs for them. See credits needed and note that does not reflect on the amount you have.

Yeah... sadly the game says that the requirement for the next level is "Mission" so I can't level up. The patch might be for MP, but I do remember being able to get above level 18 before having to reinstall FL after my system ate itself. And I don't recall having to use a mod to do it in SP, so I'm not using any at the moment.

If you have already met Orillian in the bar, and are free to freelance, just take faction/police missions and build credits. You will go up in rank. 38 is max.

Alright, I've been running missions for like the last hour or so and instead of saying "Mission" for next level it's saying something like $29k... but it says that I'm worth lik $120k... Guess I'll just play with it until it breaks or I give up... *shrug*

Also, wasn't there an in-game map pack or something that uncovered all the system maps for you?

Ioncross Char editor will allow you to reveal al the map. do a regular save game and exit. Open Ioncross and open the save. Bottom of the screen is the box to check to reveal all map.

The large figure you posted reflects your "net worth" which is not what levels you up. To make the next level, you need that much "cash on hand".

See, you could be worth several million credits but be practically broke enough that you can't even buy bots or bats.

You have to have that cash on hand.
